phone up virgin and ask for a MAC code. They are valid 30 days. When you sign up to the new isp, give them the MAC code and the two ISPs will arrange it between them

    Well thats the theory.......

In process of migrating at the moment. Phone up Virgin ask for the MAC code. Give plus.net the MAC code then things should be sorted out. Only reconfirm your cancellation from Virgin when you have been given the OK from Plus.net that you have migrated. Mines taking between r5 and 7 days.

Just a note "freenetname" are giving 4 months free on broadband packages when you migrate and 2mb (5gb alowance) is £18pm.

  • Hi, I changed from the Aol platinum package to freenetname package this week. Freenetname are giving you 2mb speed, 5gb download, its £18.00 per month but if you are migrating it is £18.00 for first month then the next 3 months free, if you have your own modem when you migrate then you get 4 months free. Equivalent of £13.50 per month for the 3 free months and £12 per month for the four free months, which is a pretty good deal. My migration went through within 7 days, without a hitch and my speed will be put up to 2mbs within another 7 - 10 days. So far I'm delighted, I'm saving £200 a year compared to Aol, where I was hving so many problems and terrible speeds. I might not be getting unlimited downloads with freenetname but I think 5gb should be enough. If it isn't it is an extra £2.00 per gb, and they email you and tell you. Customer service and technical support are 0870 numbers. I hope this helps someone, as I was worried about migrating but it went well, and I got a good deal I think.

Have a good day, Kimbers x

Check you connection speed as I have upgraded from 1mb to 2mb and they said the same to me but having checked it says I am on 2.2mbps as of today. Just migrated completely today - yipeee - to freenetname. No problems.

Far more polite than Wanadoo on the phone.
