Are those of you disagreeing about Wickes talking about the same thing?

I can see that a fitter would think the Wickes Takeaway range was rubbish (15mm white carcasses). I think it's rubbish too - because of the very limited unit sizes. As Mandy says ... the only advantage of the Takeaway range is the price.

Wickes' main kitchen ranges, though, are a different quality altogether ... and I think I'm right in saying that they get the kitchen delivered to the fitter who brings it to your house. That seems to avoid most of the complaints about deliveries and missing parts that the other sheds get.

I've just had this conversation with a kitchen rep in Wickes. The kitchens do get delivered to your home but every single item is barcoded apparently and it is scanned into a hand held thingy at dispatch and also the minute they take it off the van when it arrives at your house.

This was introduced to help stop shortfalls in deliveries, things going missing and also from people saying they never got x,y or z....when they actually did get it but they broke it themselves when they fitted it and are telling porkies. :D

Saying the takeaawy range "is rubbish because the unit choice is limited" is not the same as saying the range "is rubish". As far as I can tell and see, the 15mm carcases are decent quality and virtually the same as what comes from B&Q, Homebase or Screwfix etc, but at a much better price.

DONT try Wickes kitchen's I have had the misfortune of fitting 2 of them, and they are terrible.

Is this recently or some time ago? In what way are they terrible please? Need more info. :D

I know it's not the same ... I was adding my own comment as to why I think they're rubbish (from a designer's point of view) :D ... they don't even have a 1245 high door for a larder unit.

The B&Q It range does have a better choice of unit sizes and it does at least have 19mm shelves - so they're less likely to sag after a few years.

And, like I said, I don't think you'll ever persuade a kitchen fitter that cheap, white, 15mm carcasses aren't rubbish! (Unless, of course, that's all they've ever fitted).
