Kitchen Partner sell rigid Alno kitchens shipped direct from Germany. They are the ones sold at In-Toto and Holly, their designer, couldn't be more helpful or lovely.

She moved our stuff around endlessly and we even went to an In-Toto branch to look at the colours (on the quiet).

We didn't go for their kitchen in the end and in fact still don't have a kitchen - up to first fix electrics and plumbing - but we're getting there slowly.
  • Benjysmum,

You have had appaling service, this is quite rare (people only post bad news, not good). The manager is out of order if he said that, the installer should have been removed from the job and another one allocated. It is not good to hear these stories, usually from the London, or big City areas.

We don't have issue like that in Canterbury, all our installers have been with us for over 6 years. Hopefully head office directors liaison office will fix it quickly for you. If not have a look at the info' on the back of the instore Installation Services leaflet, it advises what your next step is. The last step costs a lot of money to the company and you will get a quick resolve.
  • Hi,
I wanted a MFI kitchen and got the same response - so i walked out. There are plenty of showrooms that will give you a free design (also B&Q) with no commitment. I also downloaded the alno kitchen planner/ikea planner to furthur improve the design.
I then found a website (http://www.supplyonlykitchen.co.uk/) which supply rigid kitchens. I found them reasonable and helpful with my quote using my design.

Hi, I'd like to suggest you try WICKES. I've just had their Manhattan kitchen fitted (vanilla gloss) and I'm over the moon with it. The quality is superb and the price was very reasonable. We took advantage of their interest free credit over 12 months. We also took advantage of their special deals on built in fridge/freezer & washing machine. The kitchen designer at Wickes was superb and put us under no pressure to buy something we didn't need or want. Was so pleased with the service he provided that I wrote to the manager of his branch to sing his praises.
I'd wanted a new kitchen for years but dreaded the thought of all the mess etc.,
Wish I'd plucked up courage years ago because I've got the kitchen of my dreams thanks to Wickes, their kitchen designer and the wonderful kitchen fitter who only took 5 full days to complete a miracle.

The consensus seems to disagree with you - in which way are they terrible?
The specs of the takeaway range seem to compare with B&Q IT and the Homebase ones, but at a much cheaper price.

We to were more than happy with the kitchen we got from Ikea, the only problem, the fitter we got said the way the carcase was designed, there was no void at the back, where the pipes go. It was then a little harder to fit, but it meant a lot more room inside each unit. The fitter who did the job thought the quality was much better than others, and was going to fit one in his own house.
The fitter we had, advised us against the high gloss units, he said they could easily get chipped, and start to look untidy.

The experience of those on here who have glossy kitchens does seem to differ from that advice. I think it's a bit of a misconception. I haven't seen a bad word about glossy kitchens posted on MSE by those who have them!

Sorry but have to disagree with you BIG time with you. Our kitchen fitter had no trouble whatsover with our Wickes kitchen. He thinks their quality is excellant and I agree entirely with him. Maybe you were just unlucky.
