What to buy - empty cupboards for brand new Old-Styler!

Options
Hello all

I've been lurking for a while, reading through all the ideas and tips on the O/S boards, and am about to buy my first house on my own and put them into practice!

Soooo, empty cupboards, bare of any food/cleaning supplies/anything at all! I'd be really grateful for your top tips of essential items for O/S living. What should I make sure I get on my first trip to the shops?

(I've decided I definately need tinned tomatoes, pasta and stardrops!)

Thanks in advance! :D

You might like to start with the list in here as your first step...

    Emergency food tin

While it's designed for students on their first time away from home - it covers enough of the basics to give you time and stretch your budget to fill in the gaps at a more leisurely pace.

    HTH :)

I would just buy what I need for the week's meals. Then the expense of all the bits and pieces like herbs n spices is spread out. YOu can end up with cupboards full of stuff you don't really need.

Assuming that you have enough cupboard or other efficient storage space, and that your budget isn't too tight, in your shoes I would be doing my best to buy ....

You're right Paddy's Mum, but it's only a little flat I am buying, and I think it may get a little cramped with all of our stock-cupboard bits! Although maybe we could pool the Stardrops! Bought mine at lunchtime, along with some microfibre cloths (thanks Jinky67!), so am building up a little stock of things for when I get my mitts on the place! :j
