Well done so far
Have you thought about an old fashioned marriage arrangement?
With your husband' agreement, he gives you his wages and you give him his weekly pin money
Then he can resisit the army peer pressure blaming her indoors
It does cast you in the role of baddie but gives him a let out so he does not have match his mates spending habits0 -
I'm happy to be baddy!!
We virtually have this arrangement now. I did budgets for both of us (with his agreement of course) and he now knows how much pin money he has. I have him transfer his part of the repayments over to one of my accounts at the start of the month, and I then oversee repayments. He still has things like the car loan, bike loan, insurance repayments etc in his name and coming from his bank account. We were a bit loathe to officially join our finances whilst we were sorting this out because he has a poorer credit score than I and has been refused for credit cards in the past. I wanted to keep my record pristine in case we needed to apply for a BT card.
To his credit he has not been to one run ashore since he moved to his new job, and has suffered much chagrin (including middle of the night duvet theft) for this!Debt Oct 2005: £32,692.94
Current debt: £14,000.00
Debt free date: June 20080 -
I think it's great that you want to celebrate your marriage with friends and family around you. Perhaps there are a few ways to cut back, though. A thousand pounds for professional wedding pix may well be the going rate. Of course you want a record of the occasion but how about relying on some trusted friends to take the pix? In my experience the "amateur" photos are usually the best.0
