Waiting for that call back... hope its not too long... they were 3-4 days last week. aaaaargh!

Try phoning at 8am and asking if someone is available. My son did that on Sunday morning having registered his details the previous Thursday. He got someone who went through the application with him.

Can you reserve the mortgage with a credit card?

They told my son when he applied last week that these rates were to attract new customers and were on a first come first served as they only had a certain pot of money to use.
£20M was the sum FD borrowed at that rate from the BoE I beleive.

  • Just to reiterate, although this deal has been pulled, if you called FD earlier this week or last and expressed an interest in applying for one of their mortgages (regardless of which deal it was), they will still honour the 4.99%.

I was still waiting for a call today, but decided to chase them up. I eventually managed to get through to a very helpful rep. I now have 5 days to decide if I want to go ahead and reserve the deal.

I must admit, it's rare to find a company with such integrity, as I was half expecting a "sorry you're too late" attitude.

I am genuinely impressed with FD.
  • What about survey fees and legal fees? What will they charge or are they offering them free?

Legals are free. Survey is £99 for a remortgage.
  • I just had my call from First Direct. They have booked my funds for 6 days so I am really pleased with that and have been well impressed so far with them.

Can I ask how long you had to wait for your call back JIMBO and did you get the 4.99%?
