First Direct 5-Yr 4.99% Fix Mortgage Pulled

Just spoke to FD who said their 5 year 4.99% fix deal was pulled at 5pm today. They said a new 5 year deal will be introduced in due course.
I am guessing given the BOE Governor today saying expectations of rate cuts have been over done that FD decided 4.99 was too cheap

They told my son when he applied last week that these rates were to attract new customers and were on a first come first served as they only had a certain pot of money to use.0

So if you are waiting for their phone call back is it too late?0

Just phoned anyone that registered their interest will still get the call back. Answered my own question

yes that's what she said assuming that accept you I guess.0

I would be interested to see if that were actually true as usually once a deal has gone it's gone, because as Jem mentions above, fixed funds are usually finite.
Can you guys update this thread if it transpires that anyone who called about this rate and registered an inquiry does not get offered it ?

Arrggh! I spoke to them last week about their offset deals in general and said I'd call back if we wanted to go ahead. just rang them again and they confirmed they'd honour the deal if I had "registered my interest" - i guess I did this by speaking to them but now I have to wait for another call back from their team to confirm...
I can remember her asking which deals I was interested in, I think i said "all three" but part of my brain thinks I might have said "except the 5 year one" - at the time we didnt think it was a good idea, now it sounds like I might have missed the last genuinely good offset mortgage on the market....
please please please please please let me be applicable!
Waiting for that call back... hope its not too long... they were 3-4 days last week. aaaaargh!0 -

I just asked about 'offsets' in general, didn't quote a specific product. From everybody else's experience when they do ring back do you have to decide there and then exactly what you want or can you come back to them?0 -

Yes, you have to decide there and then what you want to reserve, but you can do that with no obligation and have five days to think about it. Initially I reserved the 4.99% *and* the 2008 base rate tracker because I couldn't decide and they were fine with that. They suggested it. A few days later I phoned back and picked the 4.99 and paid my non-refundable £299 over the phone which then reserved it for 6 months. I didn't have to wait for a phone back that time because I'd already gone through all my details with them so that was a really quick call.0 -

Thanks for the info. I've no problem reserving with 5 days to decide for definite.
And I've been looking everywhere for the post where somebody stated about the 6 months to use the cash that I read last week. :T0
