Ahem, I need a really nice, quirky, Valentine's gift in Central London before 8AM

Hello Moneysavers,

Please, please suggest somewhere I can get a great Valentine's gift. Recipient is female, early 20s. Likes cats, brooches and wholesome traditional things. Deadline is early morning wake up time.

Money is no object, though I would like to get something that is quicky in some respect, and not in any way loud, novelty or signaling commitment.
I would like something that is quite expensive, and looks thought out (ie - not an obvious Valentine's gift..) I would like this gift to be something really nice, that the recipient will be thrilled and suprised with, though it must be obtainable within obvious constraints. I am thinking I will get the gift early morning, though I would be prepared to go out this evening if really necessary.

I am also assuming the Paperchase the stationary kiosk will be open in King's Cross or St Pancras from very early, could any commuters amoungst us confirm this?
Please please if you have a suggestion, plase post it. Anywhere selling nice things in London open from an early hour tomorrow,or right now.

Please help if you can, I'm counting on you all out there.

How about a wonderful champagne breakfast in bed - presuming you live together? You could pop out now and get all stuff (plenty of 24hr stores about). Combine with a good old fashioned bunch of red roses and a box of choccies?

  • Thanks jtb2412. Does anyone know the nearest 24hr SuperTesco (or whoever) to King's Cross. The huge ones whereyou can buy loads of general catalogue style wares.

I wont be going to a 24hr minimart or petrol station as they seem by law only permitted to sell awful grandmother style flowers, cheap unbranded Champagne and Dairy Milk. This is the kind of gift people just know is a last minute 24hr job. This would constitute a schoolboy error in this case, and recipient would be most deflated and difficult to deal with tomorrow.. I am looking to deflect attention from when the gift was purchased and focus on how quirky it is. I want something supernice. How about something really nice I could get from a 24 megastore???
Thanks for any input. Looking to turn frowns upside down here..

  • I am a bad person
  • If money is no object, you could pop to farringdon station, then over the road to hatton garden and see if anywhere is opening for buying diamonds... doubt it before 8am though

Why not pop out at lunch?

edit: if there's a large tescos near you, they actually do quite nice flowers
  • Though, that shouldn't stop you suggesting something, I really appreciate the suggestions of everyone out there. I'd really like to get something great though, and make it a really nice surprise. Any suggestions go toward making someones day,and the person is really nice.
Any ideas on a really nice quirky kind of gift thing I could aquire from a 24 tesco or asda with the catalogue stuffon sale?
    Yours Gratefully,

  • It's all in the presentation WindowShopper; do you have any suggstions?, any ideas greatly appreciated..
  • Thursday is antiques day at Spitalfields market. I don't know what time it'd be open, but you could go down there early and see if there's anything there ... There are a couple of flower stalls and a chocolate shop there too.
