EON/ Powergen customers - save money without switching alert!

You don't even need to phone up - just login on there internet site and you can switch online - very quick and easy, and you can see and compare all of the options available.
Be careful though when comparing - as with the new plan (Online Extra 5) the number of units on the more expensive rate has increased - so if you are someone who doesn't use a lot of energy then it may be more expensive - for me it still worked out better value.
You can switch up to 2 times in any 3 month period. So probably worth checking on the website every couple of months to see if they have a new deal.
By the way, I don't think you really can complain that they don't automatically switch you - at least they make it very quick and easy to do so.0 -

It doesn't show up if you are already on a different version of the same tariff. You need to phone to switch.0 -
I just sitched online after I logged into my account.
Many thanks for the information

There are five versions of the Energy Online Extra Saver. They're all pretty much the same.
The prices for version 1-4 went up on the 8th feb. They bought out a new version 5 which was the same price as the other versions were before the price increase. Therefore, if you switch to version 5 you won't have a price increase. If you stay on the version you're on your prices have gone up.
I suggest you ring e.on and switch to version 5 as this is the new, tariff and is e.ons cheapest.
This makes no sense, they've increased prices for existing customers but continue to offer the old prices as version 5 to new customers and any existing ones who ask to be switched to it. This is either a mistake or sharp practice and they will increase version 5 prices in a few weeks or months. Martin should be made aware of the situation, anyone know how?0 -
I was on EON Online Extra Saver the price of which has increased by about 9%, however by switching to Online Extra Saver 5, (Easy to do when logged onto EON site) my tariff is now slightly below that before recent increases. Whatever tariff you are on with any company, keep checking, and checking again. They all make profit form those who stick not switch.

Hi Robreal, and welcome to the forum.
I guess you could send Martin a private message to inform him of this.
I'm not sure of another way. Hope this helps.................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 -
I just checked two switching websites to see if my current deal with EON/ Powergen was still competitive. I'm on 'Dual Fuel Energy Online Extra Saver' with a monthly DD. I was mysitified to see that I could save around £120 with my existing company until I read the small print: there is a relatively new tariff called 'Energy Online Extra Saver 5' which means I'll save £156 without even switching companies. It's typical they don't bother to inform existing customers of new deals and I've complained - for what it's worth. I advise all existing EON customers to ring them and ask to be put on the cheapest possible deal immediately.
Thank you Simonbe, I've just taken your advice, and been switched to Online Extra Saver 5...
It means I will save £90.00 per year, which is good really as I only have Electricity with EON.
The Lady did try to sell me Price protection capped to 2009 at first, which would be a loss to me of £9.90 per year...
I did have to give her the name of the one I wanted in the end, but she wasn't going to tell me, as they apparently don't promote Online Extra Saver 5, as it's such a great deal!!!
Also the money you can save apparently depends on your Postcode...
It's shameful how these Utility Companies get away with all this.................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 -

Hi, i think pretty much all electricity companies have regional variations in price. Depending on how much local distributors charge them and other overheads (i think). Only npower has introduced regional pricing for the gas.0
