Having had BT Broadband as a business account (BTConnect), as a personal account (BTOpenwound) and as BT Yahoo - just don't......There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -

Not sure why you should keep having to connect - sounds like something is dropping the connection. Do you have filters on every 'phone socket ?
I'd have a good look at the market - BT are overpriced and poor quality compared to many other providers. To infinity and beyond!0 -
As far as I know BT dont do an unlimited package. They have download limits from 1 to 30 GB... Thats the reason I left them, so you would have to make sure you stayed within the limits. Thier customer service people are based in India (I think) and are the worst I have dealt with. When I tried to leave them they gave me the wrong MAC code 3 times. I must say I never had a problem with thier service and speeds were always good but they are vastly overpriced. I now get 8MB broadband for the same I was paying for 2MB with BT.0

Or it could be a USB modem?mike_paterson wrote:Not sure why you should keep having to connect - sounds like something is dropping the connection. Do you have filters on every 'phone socket ?

My parents had it - it worked for a few months now the connection drops out every 20 mins.
Girlfirend's parents have - it never works at all. They asked to cancel it but BT say they have a years contract and it must be honoured. They have spent hundreds of pounds in support calls - on avergae it takes about forty minutes to get through they tell me. But apparently if you get up early and phone dead on 8am your chances of getting through quickly are gretly increased.
Company I work for almost went bust because it kept going down - lost us alot of busniess as we are in web design so internet connection is fairly vital.
When I recently became a BT customer they offered me a free connection and line setup - they then charged me for that.
I ended up using http://www.pipex.com/ after reading an article in The Observer of best broadband suppliers. They're not the cheapest of all but they are very competitive. They send you your modem and software and your away. The connection has always been there and I've never had any cause to contact their support though I've been told its very good. They don't send you any junk mail or market any crap to you either - they just leave you to get on with things.
That's just my experiences - but I'd advise staying away from BT.0 -
staying away from BT u say!!! Yes I agree!! They have caused me no end of problems re-connecting my landline back with them, I now have no landline at all :mad:0
