Does that NetMeter actually slow down your connection as part of its inner workings?
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

If I remember correctly (haven't gotten around to reinstalling it myself) it is very light on resources.

To be honest, if you're on dial-up now and don't plan to start hammering the P2P sites, a basic broadband of 2M (2Mbps) is going to be fine. Serious broadband users will be looking at downloads of gigabytes per day.
  • you could try
    http://www.metronet.co.uk/broadband/paygo.shtml
there lowest package with a 419mb usage allowance is £11.75.
you can go over the download usage but they will then charge you extra up to a maximum of £22.74. all explained in the link.
its what i signed my mum up for as she only uses the internet for basic thinks email, forums etc.
been with them now for 2 years and everything is fine also no 12month contract etc so if you found yourself suddenly viewing films etc online you could find a provider with a bigger usage allowance.

back when i was on dial up i never used the internet for anything more than email. since i have broadband however i can use in excess of 2gb a day. sky so far havent cut me off
