Thanks all - Our mistake was havning 3 kids - so need 2 hotel rooms ( thus never stayed in a hotel) plus large car to hire. I'll take a look later- Thanks

Hi, in Spain its usually cheaper to rent an apartment instead of a hotel room, we went to Girona in December (its a lovely place by the way!) and rented an apartment in the Hotel Historic http://www.hotelhistoric.com/
the apartments with 2 rooms are 120 euros a night, self catering but they come and clean up like a hotel
we thought Girona was much nicer than Barcelona and if you hire a car, the beaches are just north of there. The people were so nice too!

We went last year and stayed via travel republic at Calella palace H top hotel on AI for a few days. It was amazing value for the food and drink incl and although we probably wouldn't enjoy that type of hotel -AI-for two weeks in the summer for a short break off season it was great. I thought the food was really good and i would say we were fussy. Lots of fruit , grilled meat, salad, good well cooked vegetables plus crap if you wanted it.-chipsa, burgers,nuggets etc


We had 3 children in the room -there wasn't lots of space but it was perfectly fine.

Golden Bahia de Tossa and spa, Tossa de mar - We stayed here last Summer and loved it. Beautiful hotel, indoor and outdoor pools, gym etc. Half Board basis - food is gorgeous, really really couldn't fault it and neither can most people, check out the reviews...

We booked through Thomson hotels but it's possible to book direct at certain times of the year.

Oh, and the actual town of Tossa is lovely, really spanish with some lovely restaurants....
