Its for going on the internet, emails, DVD's etc, The extra 512mb for £7.99 to make it up to 1Gb Ram will be more than adequate for the job.

If you want to do more than that you need to have a Core 2 Duo T7xxx at >£500, and possibly a dedicated graphics card.

Hi- can anyone advise on the cheapest place to buy the eee at the moment? I have spent a while searching and have found the 2gb version for 199 on BT's website, but the 4gb version seems to be out of stock everywhere.

I would prefer to go for the 4gb version if I can find it for under 200, or would settle for the 2gb version if anyone knows where to get it cheaper than 199!

    many thanks!:j

you cant buy them for love nor money, it should be pointed out the reason the eeepc is so popular is not because its a cheap laptop but because its about a grand cheaper than the nearest other ultraportable.

i have 3 laptops, my latest was well over a grand and is seriously powerful but still want an eeepc, it is a good portable but i wouldnt want it as my only one.
  • If you can wait, the Elonex One might fit the bill. Around £99 available from June (and a British company):

Next post follows in a moment ...
  • I was also looking at an eee pc - according to Asus, it should be about $200 in the USA.
However, due to short supplies, it seems UK suppliers are taking the p with the price, and I've seen them for over £250.

Has anyone imported one from the states, and what are the pitfalls and perils? What about customs, VAT, and warranty?

I was about to ask if DVDs can be used on it but just noticed they can. Now, I have to find one. Also I wanted to keep this thread handy. Is there an easier way to do this?
