  • Hi all

Had a bizarre thing happen today. Ordered a reduced Panettone cake from John Lewis - only £1.75 in a little tin. My Mum and Dad are coming down here whilst I'm away next month and are going to use my house as a base for a few days away. Anyway, they like Panettone so I thought it would be nice to leave out for them for when they arrive as they'll have had a long drive.

It arrived this morning with some other bits and I thought, this tin is light- the cake must be tiny!! I then noticed the sellotape around the lid was damaged and I could open the tin. Inside was the cake wrapper, 1 sultana and no cake!!!!!!!!!! Some thieving git at John Lewis had munched it and the sent it out!!!

Phoned John Lewis, to be honest we both had a good laugh. It is out of stock but, no problem, she said, we'll send you something else, how about our Valentine's box of chocolates costing £8 :D

I would totally do that - you are amazing at baking and stuff, so I'm sure they would like that!

I've just spoken to hubby he's having a think about it, he's far too honest for his own good that one. I do have the cash available to pay it off, if needs be, but if they don't know at the call centre would they know at the airport?

My main worry is that Amber gets all excited about going on holiday only for it to go all wrong when we get to the airport. But would anyone send out tickets for a holiday that's not paid in full unless there has been a c*ck up somewhere?
