Yaris or Micra - Please help me choose......

Please could you let me know your thoughts as I'm just about to buy a new car and I keep changing my mind all the time which is driving me mad .
So, what are the "must haves"? I need a small hatchback that can take a folded down disabled buggy (for shopping trips with my old ma!) - can't get anything too big as it won't fit in the tiny space outside my house.
Also, I have a dodgy left knee and so need an automatic or a clutchless type gearbox to ease the wear and tear on my old bones.
The Yaris has a 1.3 multi mode type of gearbox which seems OK but for the spec that's on a deal it is around £11K. The Micra is cheaper but the auto box is slower (0-62 in 15 seconds:o ) - for the same money though you get a lot higher spec.
Toyota has been renowned for its reliability but there are some negative comments creeping in on some boards around the newer models. Nissan comes lower down the Which Car reliabilty stakes but the Micra interior etc did feel less flimsy that the Yaris. Also, the Yaris is a new shape which will be around for a while but the Micra must surely be due for a change which will affect its residual value. I want to keep the car for as long as possible so that is not as much of an issue I guess.
Most important to me are auto box, reliability and aircon AND of course price.
After writing this I am still entirely open to suggestions.... What would you do? Micra, Yaris or something else?
Please help put me out of my misery.

Honda Jazz 1.4 SE CVT-7
Honda always comes near the top of reliabilty.
3 years, 90k warranty
1.4 iDSi engine 8 valve
CVT (Continous Variable Transmission) Auto but better!
Elec windows all round
Electric Power Steering - helps reduce emmisions (one less drive belt!)
Magic Seats (Base on rear seat folds up!)
Petrol tank under front seats (safest place for it, think rear end smash)
Air-con (go for the 1.4SE Sport and you get climate control)
Alloy Wheels
ABS Anti Lock Brakes
the list goes on and on,
Forgot to mention - I work for a Honda garage :ARegards,

Given a choice between the Micra & Yaris, I'd go for the Yaris any day. Its renowned for its excellent drive, reliability and economy ... and of course, it look like a car rather than a stupid bubble. If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0

I would go with the Yaris also the old man has got one had it new for about 2 years now and its been a great little car.0

Yaris engine'd Toyota Bb - cool and practical too (if you like the cube look) - this one is not standard... I doubt it would get over a speed bump. But regular ones are still cool and not too badly priced

another vote here for the yaris
We are on our second , just recently having bought a new one.
I would be very careful when choosing that you can actually get the folded buggy in the boot. The newer version has an even smaller boot than our previous version meaning that we can no longer fit in our grandkids buggy (although we could in our last one)
It worked out cheaper for us to buy a brand new, bigger engined model rather than the second hand one we originally went to see.
Ps -save-a-lot , what is the car/model in the picture ?"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page."
happy travels !!

Toyota bB - I like them, but I am always a bit different... I am thinking of one of these as a change from my Smart0

Take a look at a Daihatsu Sirion, 5 doors, Air Con, 4 Air Bags, electric windows etc. very roomy inside and best of all made in Japan, latest models come with 5 year warranty, and Daihatsu is part of Toyota.0

my mum had a micra for 10years and loved it, no major problems, so when she was looking to change last year she drove a new micra, a yaris and a toyota aygo, she went for the aygo in the end because she thought it was a lot better ride, so id say the yaris would be a better bet0

Modern Nissan cars are basically Renaults. And as you know, cars can be either good or French
So the choice is quite easy.
But don't discard Daihatsu. They are very reliable and basically Toyota.
BTW, if you buy Yaris, don't go for multimode automatic. They are not reliable yet.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
I would go for the Yaris any day. Nissans are perefctly good cars, but I have never been able to fit in a Micra. That's only because I'm 6 foot tall though. The position of the pedals and the fact the seat only goes back a fixed distance make it impossible for me to drive comfortably.0
