Buying a new Fiat 500 - Need help please!
Hey guys
Don't know if anyone can help on this but thought I'd ask...
Basically I'm going for a test drive in the new Fiat 500 at the weekend and intend to put a deposit down afterwards, there is currently a 2-3 month waiting list.
As its a new model I just wanted to know whether I could attempt to bring down the price a bit, I did mention this to the salesman last weekend but he said as its a new model etc etc they can't do anything with the price blah blah blah.....do you think this is true or just trying to fob me off?
The car would cost around £11,000 and I've already got the money sorted so I'm not going to be using their finance, what do you suggest I offer them at first?
Also, if a cash reduction is out of the question, could I perhaps try to get some freebies thrown in?
I've never done this before so I don't want to go in there demanding this and that if theres no way I'm going to get anything.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks

Look at drivethedeal.com and see if they can drop the price - could print off their quoteand use as ammunition. If I had the cash I'd be inclined to deal at that price or better or walk away as you have all the power. I suspect there are other internet companies you could get quotes from too. Read as many threads on here as you can to find them.
You have to be a bit hard nosed in this game. I learnt that last weekend when I could have bagged myself the best deal I have ever done. Basically, I test drove a used car I was interested in the model of but not the car due to some bodywork I wasn't happy with. He increased his offer on my P/E by a huge amount and 300 off the car price. I suspect we could have nabbed a bit more if at that point I had been prepared to sit around a table and talk real business. I was never going to buy that car but I realised that by being interestingly disinterested and knowing you have the power not them you can get more than you might imagine.
We have now decided against that car and on a new vehicle. I am far more sensitised to doing a deal on it - especially as we also have the money and time on our side. We do have a P/E not in our favour but I may try and shift that privately as the local paper has a few of our car but lesser in model for far far more than I'd be happy with.0 -
Id like to sound uninterested I guess but as its my first new car it will be hard to hide the excitement.
I've had a look on drivethedeal.com but theres no saving on the list price on any of the fiat 500's, I guess its just too new to have any decent deals I can go in there with.0 -
One option is to hang on to your deposit and cash until around the 20th. Depending on the how close dealer's sales for the month to their target and their incentive/bonus from Fiat you could negotiate a small amount from them. A cash sum off a car with a waiting list is difficult, but you would be stronger asking for some of the dealer fit options as they can lose some of the costs. (Without looking at the brochure - mats, CD upgrade, boot tidy, parking sensors etc)
Use Autotrader and also dont be afraid to get a price from another Fiat dealership - play them off on each other.
And never buy new unless you can really really help it....

£11,000 is this how much these little fiats cost?
is this the price for the abarth version?
all that for a small italian car? sounds like madness....work permit granted!0 -
The new Fiat 500's start at around £7,900 depending on spec obviously.
The one I'm looking to buy starts at £9,500 but Im looking to add a few extras (alarm and electric sunroof namely).0 -

They have to pay for the flash W1 show room with many women in very tight white uniforms somehow!0 -

I like the look of that car, very cute. What do you think OP, is this a good deal or not? (compared to buying new)0 -
It does seem a good deal yes - obviously you've got to weigh it up against your preferences (ie colour and other add ons), but to be honest its not a great deal cheaper than buying it from brand new, and to be honest I'd sooner have it customised to what I wanted.
It would be interesting to hear from anyone who has purchased this car recently, although as its only recently come out this might be a bit hard!0
