Gulet Cruises (Turkey)

I've looked through loads of brochures at the above, and am particularly drawn to the Thomas Cook AI ones (7 nights), possibly combining with a stay in a hotel, but I'm struggling to actually find them on their website (and not that easy to find on the other holiday co websites either) - any tips either in finding these particular TC ones, for others, or gulet holidays in general?
Thanks!
Thanks!

hiya,
thanks for the reply! - yep they are, but I was trying to find out details of availability and hoping that plugging the appropriate dates and combinations online it would let me know if its a goer or not.0 -
We have been on quite a few Gulet Cruise / Hotel twin center holidays with Thomas Cook. As far as I can remember we had to contact Thomas Cook for price and availability because transfers had to be included between hotel and gulet. I also seem to remember there being a details of how to estimate the holiday cost in the brochure. Some years we could only choose certain hotels to combine with the cruise. Other years we could choose any hotel in certain resorts. We tended to stay at the hotel first then transfer onto the Gulet. If you want any more information regarding the places the Gulet cruises stop off at then let us know. We have visited most of the coastline between Antalya and Bodrum.0

I have sent owt4nowt a pm, and we've been to the travel agents, found some dates that suit and a reasonable price, my fella has a few more questions tho if anyone with experience can remember:
1) Are the meals at pre-fixed times and are you able to help yourself to a snack (just fruit/bread etc) if you miss one (say you sleep in late).
2) Are you able to help yourself to soft drinks at any time of day (on the AI cruises) or do you have to ask the crew - ie, can you get up early and make a coffee/get some water. We kind of expect alcohol to be only available at certain times/to be served by the crew as it usually would be at an AI hotel.
3) When you moor for the night, is this just "drop anchor" rather than at a jetty, and if so, is it possible to usually get to shore - if just for a walk on land, and is this quite flexible or does it tend to be one trip at a time decided by the crew?
TIA!0 -

My OH and I did an independent trip to Turkey a few years ago. Return flights to Isbanbul, stayed a few days, public coach to Cappadoccia (the best part of the trip) where we stayed at "The Flintstones" cave hotel, then coach to the sea, Antalya and so on, then went to the port in Fetiye and found a gulet to join for a few days.
When you get to the port, they literally fight over your business, so it is quite easy to find a trip that suits you.
On our gulet, the food was served at fixed times, and you could not keep snacking or drinking. It was excellent by the way.
My one disappointment was they are "sailing boats" that never actually SAIL. They always run on their engines. Which, whilst good, is a totally different experience to sailing.
We left the gulet in Marmaris (which we hated: too many people, too much hassling of tourists) and went to Bodrum to take the public coach back to Istanbul.
Overall it was a memorable holiday, in a beautiful country. Nevertheless, I am unlikely to go back because I do not like to be hassled. There are many lovely places in the world where one is left in peace.
Hope this is of use.

We have been on more than half a dozen gulet holidays and counting. The whole experience is absolutely fantastic and nothing else compares to it. But now gulet charters becoming more and more popular you really need to be careful who you are going with. There are some companies over promise and under deliver. Last year we went with a premium agency exclusive gulets. We paid a little bit more than the average but it was money well worth spending. The boat was absolutely stunning and so as the crew on-board. They all could speak English and wore very clean uniforms. (A few years back we had a night mare with a captain who got drunk every night and crew smoking all over the place be sure to book with an agency so you have got someone to go back to if anything goes wrong).0
