    Dear Mr bloggs,

    Thank you for your email.

I do appreciate and understand what you are saying, however this is a
promotional offer for new customers only.

Existing TalkTalk customer do still benefit from cheaper calls and free calls to
    all other TalkTalk customers.

I apologise I am unable to offer a more favourable response at this time.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0870

Clearly, the 'Correspondence Department' needs advice from The Apostrophe Protection Society regarding their use of apostrophes to denote plurals in their correspondence!
Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
    They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").

I'm using BT "privacy" ie caller display and filtering of junk calls for free. Is this still for free with Talk Talk

I tried phoning BT for the "Privacy" package and was told that because I am with Talk Talk and do not use BT for my calls, I do not qualify for the FREE service. I could of course pay for Caller Display but the call saving is too much to go back to BT

Does anyone know whether they allow you to cancel once your 3 months is up, or are you tied in for a year?

There is no minimum term on this plan unless you decide to take their line rental offer when they launch it which then the minimum term for line rental is 3months providing you transfer your line rental from BT to TalkTalk, otherwise its a full 12months for taking out your line rental straight from TalkTalk without transferring line rental from BT to TalkTalk.

I must admit to never, ever receiving any sales calls to my landline, although we did recently receive one of those recorded messages telling us that we had won some fantastic prize, presumably they must call random numbers

I've registered (for free) with the Telephone Preference Service and apparently companies can be taken to court for making sales calls to my number - but in reality, they never do ;)

Pity I can't stop people ringing our mobiles, pretending to be our current service provider, and offering us a "free upgrade" :p
Thanks to all who post constructively.

I pay line rental to BT, and am also with OneTel and 18866. Can I join Talk Talk and keep OneTel and 18866........or is there no point. Does TalkTalk have the answer phone? Sorry for so many questions!! Thanks!!

Are you paying a monthly charge to Onetel? I was with Onetel before TalkTalk and switched over last year for the offer that was current then. I also used the answer service with Onetel but you can just swap back to 1571 with BT when you switch over to TalkTalk.

I use 18866/1899 and 18185 with TalkTalk as well.

No, no monthly charge to OneTel. This is going to sound like a silly question, but is the tariff to TalkTalk a line rental......so I have to pay line rental to BT as well?

If you only took one of their call tariffs then it wouldn't include line rental but depending on which TalkTalk tariff it may include an extra monthly cost.

Some forum members are going for the Tele2 medium package that offers free evening&weekend calls (without a monthly fee) until the end of this year and then probably swapping over to another provider after this.

Also, JustDialSaver Lite are also doing free evening & weekend calls (without a monthly fee) with no date specified so it could be for life. Each individual call though that is longer than 2 hours will become chargable (TalkTalk's is actually only 70mins). JustDialSaver was discussed in little more detail here and here.
