If you click the help button at the top right of the Nationwide login screen it explains very clearly which memorable information is required. Personally I had no problems working out which memorable info to use.

Those that I mentioned you conveniently removed from your quoted text.
 What do you mean? Lloyd TSB? It is among banks that I list. Could you be more specific, please?
I know that it's a credit card (I am not as stupid as you make me sound, despite your comments and rather ironically bad spelling), I fail to see your point here though.
I did not mean to make you sound stupid. However, I wrote in my first post that CC companies have simpler online security, but you keep on quoting Amex as an example of simplicity. CC companies are less vulnerable than banks (BSs) with current and saving accounts. Maximum thief can do online with CC is to pay bills or request a balance transfer - within credit limit. This is my point. And I fail to see yours, especially regarding my spelling that has nothing to do with the matter of discussion.
So you're saying you can enter any of those three at my will?
Yes, I am. And I know what I am saying. 100%
If that is true, they don't make it clear enough to tell you what is required of you
They make it very clear during registration and during log-on (again: 'data' and 'date'...) I never had any problems.
    - as other people have indicated here in this thread.
What other people? Cattie did not write that something was not clear enough. I had problem with Smile at the beginning too - with upper and lower case. It was my mistake and I didn't blame them.
I can't see why you're getting so worked up for. Do you work for Nationwide or something?
No, I don't work for either NW or other financial organisation. I just have account with NW for more than 5 years and their online banking is one of the best (I have a lot of accounts with other banks and can compare). Also I try to stay unbiased and impartial. For example, read my posts #24 and #26 in 'Nationwide Online Banking - Worst I Have Come Across ' thread.
In my opinion having three pieces of memorable data and asking only one (any one of the three) to be entered makes it more insecure as it gives a possible thief 3 opportunities to get in, as oposed to 1.

...for security reasons, we advise you not to use anything too obvious such as your date of birth, or your partner's date of birth. Don't use the name of the place you are living in and don't use your first name or your partner's first names.
Do you think that Halifax is more secure when asking you directly about 'Your mother's/father's first name?' during log-on? What is easier to guess?
    Also some information for you:

My point exactly, again. You ingnored my post listing LloydsTSB as a bank with a relatively simple log in. So you repeated something I said and you're mad at me about it?
However, I wrote in my first post that CC companies have simpler online security, but you keep on quoting Amex as an example of simplicity. OK, I can see where you stated this. However, you could have expressed this better and certainly made it clearer rather than flown off the handle as you do.
They make it very clear during registration an during log-on (again: 'data' and 'date'...) I never had any problems.

Again, I am making the point that this isn't the case. I simply don't agree with you here, hence why I made the comment about you being biased (i.e. working for Nationwide).
What other people? Cattie did not write that something is not clear enough. I had problem with Smile at the beginning too - with upper and lower case. It was my mistake and I don't blame them.

  The point of this post is that other people are likely to be confused by Nationwide's online system. Got it?

Now that is useful - thanks for that.

I don't find the Nationwide log-in particularly user-friendly, but once I got the hang of it I managed to get it to work consistently. And yes, I always use Firefox.

Having a choice of any one of three passwords is unusual and it is not as secure as having a single password however, it always works for me (have never been locked out).

I also use firefox (version 1.0.4 for Windows) and the only problem is some text bleedover from the top section of the 'my account' box. This overwrites some text in the main section (the date) but doesn't stop the site from working. Everything else on the site works fine.
