ok had a major problem last summer, with kids from 6-7 houses away playing football in out cul-de-sac and volleying the football off fences, cars etc, last summer the police were called to there house on numerous occasions(maybe 7-8 times)iam not sure what was said to them then, but again last night it started
not sure i can handle another summer of this, myself and my next door neighbour(a eldery gentleman) have both got new cars with in the last month, and my neighbpour informs me this morning they hit my new car at least 3-4 times last night
there father is a big guy and very intimidating,so not many people want to complain,as there scared of him,and when residents have accused his kids of damaging fences and cars etc before,he has denied it and said prove it,where do we stand now? can we get a asbo on them(theres 2 boys in the family, who should know better, but other kids join them who stay 3-4 streets away)were in scotland so not sure on the rules, but this cant go on again this summer, especially with me having a new car,and my son being disabled9autistic being 1) so he hates heaRING BANGING FOOTBALLS ON OUR FENCE ETC

I know how you feel, i had exactly the same problem last year, my car got dented and every day i would come home to find my fence broken and football prints on my windows. I confronted the kids father who is big and he told me he would rather his kids do that than sit inside all day on computer (charming) i then kept phoning police and asked council to put "no ball game" signs up. This seems to frighten smaller kids away.0

you can buy small cctv camera's for about £20, saw some in woolies after xmas, or ebay too I should imagine. At least that way you'll have the 'evidence' the obnoxious father is after, but more so for the police in the way of any criminal damage.Fight for clean hospitals, C-DIFF takes lives

I also live in a cul-de-sac where children play. I once ended up taking the ball off my own sons because a neighbour caused so much trouble accusing them of 'criminal damage', we also asked to be shown any damage that the boys had caused, non was every shown to us.
Now years on, lots of children play in our cul-de-sac, it is a relitively safe place for them to play and our cars get balls bouncing off them all summer.
I'm sorry but I'm struggling to see how calling the police out to the family or trying to get an asbo on the boys for playing football is productive in any way.
Talk to the lads and explain that the noise of the ball gets a bit annoying and could they cool it for a bit and try and keep the ball away from the cars.
You could try and sit outside with your son and let him watch them play football, try and get a dialog going between yourselves and the lads.0 -

Having said that, they shouldn't get away with being a nuisance, and I would be tempted to go out and point out to the children that bouncing balls off fences / cars etc., is not showing respect for people;s property and isn't actually part of the rules of football; I would then also go and speak to father (even if he is big and scary) and just say that you needed to go out and talk to the kids but that you don't have a problem with them playing outside IF they take care and are mindful of other people's property ... talking about criminal damage / bringing in CCTV cameras is confrontational and doesn't teach the children about respect for other people's things, it just gives father a reason to shout and be angry. That's Numberwang!0 -

you could all get together and lobby your council. if you look at this list (an example of a council who adopts a policy) ,it is possible to request a no ball games sign if the police have been involved in a dispute. however, not sure how enforceable it would be to police and it would probably make the kids play it more.Bring back mark and lard NOW! or else (please) clique member no. 10 :j
