This is really doin my head in, a real depressing chore rather than an exciting adventure !
Was fancying France with the dog until I found out the timescale for doggy passports. France as I'm on my own now with 2 kids ( will be 12 and 14 ) and had some experience of there from previous trips with their dad.
Wrong I know, but I'm feeling in competition with the kids dad who has booked to take them to Turkey in the summer. I'd be quite happy to settle for a UK holiday now as the kids are already going abroad but I'm under presure, especially as I didn't take them away last year due to finances ! Under pressure to find somewhere with great beaches and clear water for my daughter and a cheap price tag for me !:o
Are there any places out there that come with recommendations ( beaches and clear water
) and a price tag of around £2000 for 2 weeks please ?
Any quick pointers would be much appreciated, thank you !

THis might not "float your boat", as you don't say how old daughter is, but we went here last year and it was absolutely wonderful!

You could have the smaller appartment. Fly to salzburg and then either have a transfer from Nigel+ Debbie in their minibus, or go by train.
We are 2 adults and 3 kids (then 13/11/8) . We did alsorts- walking, sightseeing, austrian cake eating:o swimming (spa baths are absolutely lovely there- think of a quiet version of centreparks- not the fancy shutes and stuff, but lots of different pools and even outside/inside ones). Beach is the lake at Zell- lovely.
We did it all by public transport which was easy too.
Debbie and Nigel have two delightful small boys who are happy to play for hours too-got to be good if you are travelling alone with daughter! Child friendly garden etc of course too.Just nice to sit in the sunshine looking at the mountains with a drink whilst your daughter plays happily...
We flew ryanair which was fine (for a cattle market flight but that was what we expected) and flights were about £1000 for 5 of us.0 -
I would definately go for Cornwall, fantastic beaches, beautiful scenery and most places are dog friendly.0

With £2k for the basic hol then you may find a cruise for that price if you share a cabin for 3, would need some spend money but the food and snacks are all covered.
Kids get to hang around with others their own age, kids clubs and you get Adult company. Ok no beach but pools and some itineries a have beach days
Depends when you can go, put up some dates.
1 week would be easy for that money, there are some over the easer school break in April for around £500pp(less for the 3rd), Thomsons,Island both family friendly
2 week Example(but outside school hols), 11 April £600pp 15nights. on a big RCI ship doing a transatlantic.
If you could stretch the budget given a lot is included on a cruise it would open up some other options. not much over 2k would get a greek island turkey cruise in April for 3.
I think flight will make the caribbean over budget.0 -
I take it the dog has to go with you?.....0

anonymousie, what a lovely place ! Now you have my daughter wanting to go there in the winter for ski-ing! As ever with kids though, they're so different, my daughter ( age 14 ) loves ski-ing and my son ( age 12 ) hates it.... aarrgghhh, lol, nothing's ever easy
greengrass, I really, really miss Cornwall. As you say, it does have everything, especially if the weather is good. Such memories of boarding with my dad and passing on my beached whale skills to my kids !!!
See, I'm thinking I can persuad them to have the week abroad with their dad in the summer holidays ( they're with him for a week at his home too ), us to just have a week or two in Cornwall ( that way we can take Mabel, the dog ) and hopefully we could have a little money left over for a trip away during one of the other school holidays ? Thus spreading the costs and the holidays throughout the year ? ( Might manage to get my house decorated in the mean time too ! )
davetrousers, we had Mabes last year and at the time presumed we had to, and were willing, to include her in our holiday plans. As it's turned out, my parents have taken to her so much that they've offered to look after her so we're now free to go it alone if we choose.0 -

Ooo, I know DD would love the idea of the greek island cruise ! ( Though she's bound to mention the film Titanic which affected her judgement a few years ago !
Thanks though for those interesting suggestions, I shal certainly look into them
Thank you all for your help. I know I sound pathetic here ( and hopefully not lazy ). It's just that I've never been involved with planning holidays before ( the ex used to take control ! ) ( yes, one of the reasons I left ! ) and so I'm a little new and anxious about it all

OK so without a dog, you have far more options.
I like the Canary Islands, good weather, same time zone. Yes there are the very obvious tourist things things but there are also the less touristy things that are quite charming. Just a suggestion, I'm not going to labour the point, lol. But am happy to discuss the virtues!.....0 -

Thanks davetrousers
Would that fit the price tag of around £2000 for 2 weeks though ? 0 -

I suppose I ought to be good and travel during the school holidays  preferably July 19th - 2nd August to fit in with their dad's plans.
The kids will be aged 12 and 14 by then and we're in Nuneaton, Warwickshire so Coventry ? East Midlands ? Birmingham ? I don't mind driving to another airpost though if it saves a bit
