HI
I have a couple of questions - a) Are you losing your job? If not why are you leaving the bungalow. b) are the debts in joint names? Surely it is not just your responsibilty to clear them?0 -
also wondering if debts are in both names ? as there creditcards i imagine u would have had 2 know about them for them to be in ur names as well
if there in her name id suggest letting her deal with them , you dont owe her nothing if shes planning on leaving you. her name her debt , let her take it with her0 -
So is your wife staying on in the Bungalow then, and shooing you out into the motor home AND expecting you to pay half her CC dept....as well as being sole provider for the dogs...seems a bit one sided to me
it has been known for me to get the wrong end of the stick so appologies if I have read this wrong (it wont be the first time)BOI Credit Card = Was £3500.00 Now £0.00
GE Capital Store Card= Was £1800.00 Now £0.00
GE Capital Store Card = Was 1300.00 Now £0.00
Credit Union Savings Now £200.00 :T0 -
hi, I'm really sorry to hear of your situation. Here's a big dodgy 3some hug :grouphug:
I'll echo what everyone has said about completing and SOA. This will help you guy an idea where you stand and then if you wish to share it with us to see where you can cut back and get sorted then please feel free.
With the debt I'd suggest you talk to either the CAB, CCCS or Payplan to see what you can do. The CCCS also has a 'debt remedy' tool on their website which is really helpful.
What's your wifes income like? I personally think you should split the debts in a pro rata way so that each pays their equal share.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
Que sera, sera.

Just to clarify, (and there's not been much clarity from me of late
):
All the cc debts were joint but some were on my cc's and some were on her cc's. I basically left her to deal with all the finances and when i asked how things were and she said the bills are going down, I left it at that. I had no idea that we owed as much as we did  . Call me a wazzock if you want to but I really had little idea how bad things were. Not so much had my whole head buried in the sand, more like my eyes and ears
We're still in the bungalow as a favour to our bosses who have been brilliant to me and are more than happy to keep me on
but as we are employed as a "couple" and she is moving out, they will have to get another live-in couple to take our place. I'm not unduly bothered by this as I'll probably be a few bob better off living in the motorhome because at the moment I pay a "contribution" towards the running costs of the building. It's not much but it adds up.
I've managed to blag a 6 month 0% balance transfer deal from the Halifax and I've moved all my debt onto my Halifax cc and I've extended the loan on the motorhome which has dropped the monthly payments so all being well, I can start to throw a few hundred £'s at the cc bill. When the 6 month deal is nearly up, I'll try and get another 0% deal from somewhere.
FWIW, £2300 of the debt was on my TSB cc at 26.5% APR  . I rang them up this morning and gave them the " I'm not paying this much in interest, do me a deal or I'll transfer to a lower interest card, close this account and you'll get nothing" speeech. Guess what? They wouldn't play ball so almost all of the balance is now on the aforementioned Halifax deal and when the next statement comes in, I shall pay up, close the account and TSB can kiss my, sorry, whistle for it

So have you transferred the debts from your OH's cc onto your cc?? Wow, I wish I could have swung that when I split up from ex-husband
Took me ages to singlehandledly pay off debts run up while he was at Uni.... 0
