Whats talk talk broadband like?

Hello

I'm movin to a new flat soon and i've done a fair bit of surfing and found that CPW talk talk seems to be cheapest at 19.99 as its unlimited (I'm a heavy downloader - wow sound like a drug addict!) and includes there cheap phone package.

Does anyone have experience of them?

Whats the software dialler like? (Its not PC trashing stuff like AOHELL i'm using right now?)

Tech support?

Any problems or even positive experiences would be great to hear.

Well i've been with them for 4 months so far so good, but heard a lot of bad feedback about talk talk. But haven't experienced it so far, apparently there unlimited download isn't unlimited. I do download a fair bit but it's only been this month and i'm waiting to see if they kick me off. As they have been know to discontinue their service if you download a lot. I'll soon find out, how much do u download a month? Also took them a while to connect but i think this was due to the march madness offer they were doing. Hope this helps.

    What about plus.net for £14.99 a month??
  • I haven't used Talk Talk broadband, but do use their landline service and I have to say that their Customer Services are second to none! They pick up the phone almost immediately and deal with queries very efficiently.

Their broadband is unlimited in that you can download as much as you like without being penalised.

What they do operate (bit sneakily if you ask me) and that is priority traffic. That basically means priority is given to those that are just viewing webpages and viewing their emails. All other traffic (downloading, etc) then you may find that they decrease your speed.

For those that mostly view webpages/emails then you are ok but for those that download a lot you may find that your not downloading as fast as what you are paying for due to this priority traffic policy they operate.

    thanks for replies :)

Unfortunatley from plus.net "If you regularly file-share and download, we recommend Broadband Premier. With equal priority given to all Internet services, including Peer-2-Peer, Broadband Premier is ideal for heavier users."
    =22 pounds a month
But sounds like the 14.95 one has priority traffic ...hmmm...
i'm wondering if due to that perhaps its worth spendign a bit more with plus.net????

Whats software like with plus.net? Just dialler? or load of garbage like I am on with aohell!
  • Do not ever ever go with Talk Talk Broadband, there unlimited use is not unlimited, my account was cancelled in march or feb but they have still continued to bill me,

Now I cannot get the account closed, the people on the talk talk helpline always give me the same !!!!!! all the time, and never actually cancell the account.

Go with them at your peril!!!!

I agree with the last poster, absolute nightmare with them, and customer service wise...Nightmare!!

I requested the broadband at my parents (where I was living) and stated I wanted the bill to come out of my account and not my parents, they took the details, then preceded to bill both accounts.... Loss of signal quite a bit (Though this may be due to my old pc) getting a new laptop this week and hoping to start downloading so much that they kick me off thye account (provided it can keep a signal long enough)... Stay well clear!!!

Been with them since April. Got 2 pc's networked and have had no probs at all!
  • I have received yet another bill from them this week.

Its getting beyond a joke now, I am hopefully moving house soon, but if they continue to bill me, & I dont know about it, it will affect my credit rating

I am not happy with this company at all.
  • think i might push this back up to the top in the hope of warning somebody
