cheapest temporary car insurance
I bought a new car last week and stupidly cancelled the insurance on my old car even though I haven't sold it yet (but I am pregnant so I put it down to hormonal brain-mush).
Budget (my car insurer) is going to listen to the tapes from the call I made on Friday cancelling the policy (cos I actually only rang up to see whether I would HAVE to cancel it as it was paid in full until July and they had already told me there would be no refund after all cancellation fees were taken into account - which was fine - but then I suppose the conversation just went in the direction of cancelling the policy when actually I still own the car and need it to be insured until I sell it and THEN I want to cancel it!)
Anyway, so Budget are ringing me back tonight. If I get no joy with them and they refuse to reinstate my policy, what are the cheapest temperory insurers? Or do you think Budget will let me off and reinstate it as a 'favour' to a good customer who has made a genuine error?
I only need cover for a week cos I already have a buyer for the car, I just need to drive the car to a garage to have some work done to it before I sell it. Also, obviously it is not insured for theft either at the moment but it is not really a high-risk for theft (V-reg Toyota Yaris!). So I need one day minimum just to drive it to the garage but possibly seven days or even longer if the sale doesn't work out.
What a nightmare!!! I am such an idiot...

There's quite a few temporary cover firms, and most are around the £10 a day mark for a few days, and then dropping after that.
Day Insure (http://www.dayinsure.com) should cover you for a week for around £45, the same as Norwich Union (http://www.norwichunion.com/short-term-insurance). There's a few others so Google for 'day insurance', but they're all around the same kind of price.0 -

I feared as much. When it was only £205 for the year and it wasn't due to run out until July anyway that is hard to take. Hopefully Budget will let a poor pregnant woman who doesn't know what she is saying off.0

I'm in a similar situation but need my Honda Accord insured for around a month realistically to get it sold privately (we pick the new car up this Thurs)
I've been quoted £34.00 for 28 days insurance with eCar insurance

I clicked on Pay as you go (monthly cover).
I'm waiting until the missus gets in before I actually commit but it looks by far the cheapest way around the problem.
ps: does anybody want to buy a 1999 Honda Accord 1.8LS?0
