My all new debt diary

Hey 4littleone, at least you have a plan which means you can see the future being better.
I add my virtual hugs to the rest. :grouphug:0 -
Ok i'm back and feeling happier today.
Thanks for the virtual hugs, much appreciated.
OH starts his new job today, i'm hoping that he will be happier there and so drink less and get up before lunchtime perhaps??
The drinking is the biggest problem really, it costs so much and he gets really irrational when he's had a couple. Not to mention all the stupid things he does, like ramming a crate of beer in the fridge and then ruining the food that was already there, or making a huge mess and then leaving it for everyone else etc etc.
He also wakes up with a hangover and is then grumpy all day until he has a drink again and so it goes on...
However, all the bills are paid this month. I have my budget left for food shopping and sundries and i've been ok about not buying "stuff" for the sake of it.
I have bought a new dress but it was from ebay and cost £4.50 including postage, i also got some weights ( i am very porky at the moment) but they were FREE from ebay as the lady just wanted them out of the house!!
So, i am ready and raring to go on my fitness drive and have a summer dress to wear already. ( i have NO summer clothes that fit me at all so i will need to get a coupe of tees etc, however i'm going to use ebay and primark for those.)
Work is still fantastic, i feel incredibly lucky to enjoy my job so much, it's a real escape for me from the debt busting i'm doing.
My spending diary is going well although i have had a couple of non budgeted bills i have managed well.
Dd has a school trip that was sprung on us which costs £21  for a day at a museum but i have the cash so that's fine.
OH has even started talking about SAVING for our holiday! He never ever saves for anything, so this is a bit of a break through really although we'll have to see how long it lasts.
I'm sending off my full and final letter this week for the overdraft so i'll keep posting as i get news from that. I'm hoping they'll accept between 30p -40p in every pound.
Thanks again for your support. x xTotal debt at LB Moment (Nov 2007) = £6583 £4649 20.03.09

I tried to post earlier this week but the laptop crashed grrr!
Well, pay day is almost here (1 week today) and i have £64.22 in my current account.
All bills are paid although i am having a huge row with Bristish Gas. They have allocated both of my payments this month to my electricity account rather than 1 to gas and one to electric. How they have done this i don't know as i pay by d/d! Hence i have now received a nasty final demand letter even though i have paid
Other than that, i have had some successes this week
I was scammed by Shopper Discounts. I fly regularly for work and last month when i booked my flights there was a link to a £10 off voucher, so being a mse i followed the loink and the instructions. Little did i know that they use your paying details for the flight and then charge you £8 a month for being a member of their site.
There was nothing at all on the site or the small print, and my voucher never appeared so i have complained and received a full refund and apology.
Then i bought a £1 scratchcard on Sunday and won £5 :j
So, all in all a good week on the money front. My spending diary has slackened off over the last week or so which is a shame and i am embarassed about it but i have been checking online every day and i am certainly much more aware of what i am spending.
Partner on the other hand is running out of money despite only having been paid 2 weeks ago  .
Not my problem. I've tried to talk about things like paying bills by standing order and having separate accounts for his spending money etc but he won't listen so i've got no sympathy at all now.
Last night was not very nice, he punched a hole in the kitchen door because he stubbed his toe and then took it out on me so I'm not really looking forward to going home tonight but heigh ho, life goes on.
On another note, i've heard nothing about the full and final offer i've made on the overdraft . But I am thinking this could be a good thing. I am due a bonus payment in June, the bonus should be enough to pay off the loan on a full and final even if they push me to 50p in every pound, so i am considering paying the loan first to get rid of the ccj and then the overdraft the next month.
I know the ccj stays there for 6 yrs but it will show as satisfied which will at least look a bit better on my credit report.
I shall let you the MSE jury decide! :rotfl:Total debt at LB Moment (Nov 2007) = £6583 £4649 20.03.09

I have a horrid feeling i'm starting a stinky cold today! I think this may be a little divine intervention to stop me getting that old "payday spend day" feeling! :rotfl:
Luckily i can be ill the MSE way as i already have cold and flu stuff in the cupboard...:rotfl: :rotfl:
So today is payday! WooHoo!!
Although not as woohoo as it should be, my tax code is completely cocked up, it changes every month. Last month it should have been sorted, now it is wrong again and i have lost nearly £200 in overpaid tax because of it.
I know i can get it back but it's so frustrating having a different pay amount each month. Makes budgetting a proper palaver.
Anyway, after paying all bills etc this month i will have a grand total of £518.37 disposable cash so i have decided to put £200 of this straight into my ISA towards my full and finals. I've done this online this afternoon so there are no excuses. That leaves me with £74.28 disposable per week. More than enough. I'm hoping that i can save some of this as well to boost the isa.
Budget for this month is as follows;
Mortgage £500
Childcare £500
council tax £50
Christmas £5
ISA £30
water £29
Ins £17.93
Gas £59
Elec £50
Telephone £31.89
Next £17.03 (spent on clothes today for work)
Debt payments;
Loan £50
Overdraft £20
Food and Groceries £45 per wk (180 per month)
I've had to up the groceries budget, i've really noticed to prices going up so i figure if i up it i can cover any price rises for the moment.
I've looked at flats etc and i have worked out i'll need to have £1500 in my emergency fund to allow a months rent in advance plus deposit
Looks like I'd better get rid of this cold quick then! :rotfl:Total debt at LB Moment (Nov 2007) = £6583 £4649 20.03.09

Is it just me or are they truly awful?
I am having an ongoing battle with these guys each month. There are no arrears on the gas or electrcity accounts (having paid these off a couple of months ago) but i keep getting overdue bill reminders. According to their customer services it's an automatic letter and i should just ignore it.... but why the hell would i? Do all their customers get overdue bill reminders each month for bills that are not overdue or is it just me? Am i paranoid? :rotfl:
So last month it turns out they took the payments for gas and electricity but only assigned them to the electricity account. Rather than reassign the amounts they want to keep the electricity d/d the same but increase the gas payment each month to cover the "missed" payment.
Is it me or is this not ridiculous? Why on earth should i now pay extra because they cannot reassign a cocked up payment?
I am annoyed, can you tell?Total debt at LB Moment (Nov 2007) = £6583 £4649 20.03.09

Id be flaming well annoyed as well. I would ask for a refund of overpayment and then pay it to the gas but even that is more hassle then you should have to put up with.
Hope the cold clears up ASAP.:jMay 2013 new beginnings:j0 -
Hi wendy,
how are you? Hope you're well, (unlike me).
Actually, the cold is fine, i don't really mind them other than the first day thing where you have the really fuzzy head.
Still no word back from British Gas. What galls me is that my balance for electricity is £59, the gas is £203.
Last month i paid £70 to Gas and £50 to electricity. So my d/d should be £50 a month for gas and 0 for electric.
They want £67.90 for Gas each month and £59 for electricity EACH month...
Doesn't add up does it.
Grrr, never mind, it'll sort itself out over the next couple of weeks.
On a different note i am annoyed with partner again (ooo, that makes a change i hear you say :rotfl: )
His brother is as bad if not worse with money than he is. They have both come up with a hare brained scheme to "buy a little rental in a college town somewhere" because they "don't know anyone who isn't rich if they've got a couple of properties"....
1. They think they're going to use the equity in our house to fund this
2. Neither of them have enough disposable to fund a second mortgage each month without me taking on even more of the household expenses
3. Our house is in desperate need of maintenence, how the hell will they manage to do the maintenence on 2 houses if partner can't be assed to do it on our own home.
Partner seriously thinks he's going to do this, oh and he wants a new sofa as well because the cat that HE bought has ripped our expensive leather one to bits.
I am so angry that he has come up with this plan with his brother without even running it past me first. The house is mine as well, what on earth makes him think i would risk all of my investment in some potty scheme that is so not going to make any money.
His brother has a 4k overdraft that is up to it's limit already, a loan that he can barely pay and has a mortgage on a house he co owns with his sister that he pays late every sngle month. His idea of finance is seriously skewed, he actually thinks that because he has paid 14k in mortgage payements for the house with his sister that he will get that 14k plus extra back.
The house is in negative equity so where will all this money come from??
Sorry, rant over, it just makes me livid that the pair of them can be so irresponsible about such a huge thing as our own home.Total debt at LB Moment (Nov 2007) = £6583 £4649 20.03.09
