    Hello there!
I think i read one of your posts today?? We're all here to support each other so feel free to post/rant/ask for opinions.

Well i have done the food shopping this evening.

£38.46 out of my monthly budget of £130.
I have bought everything for the week (up to 29th April) and a couple of bits that will last the month such as tin foil and sandwich bags
    Menu for the week is as follows;

    Chicken curry
    Jackets and chilli with salad
Pork chops, rosti potatoes and veg
    pork and chorizo stew
    risotto
    roast dinner
    beans on toast with cheese.

So tonight we had the curry (yum and i now have a couple of bags of chicken in the freezer from the leftover on the carcass), and i am now flat out on the sofa.
Busy day today. Walked little one to childminders this morning before work, then worked then it was violin lessons and swimming lessons night.
Shopped then home at half seven to cook dinner and do homework.....
I intend to doze in front of the telly now! NIght all. x

  • hello 4littleone,

Im new to this site and have been just kind of scanning all the forums and I can honestly say that your thread is the first one I have read all the way through. Its lovely to hear how your managing to clear your debt whilst still treating yourself and sorting out your future.
I'm 24 and due to a relationship that ended badly (he was unemployed and lived off me) when I was 20, Im already £16000 in debt. It used to be £22000 but in the past four years I have managed to clear a bit of it (very slowly). In about a month Im moving in with my new boyfriend who is debt-free and keen to make me the same so hopefully over the next couple of years I should be able to clear myself too and look too a brighter future like yourself.

Good luck with everything you do and I look forward to reading your next post.

    Hi Jemima,

    nice to "see" you here!
I'm sorry to hear about your last boyf but the new one sounds lovely :j
I'm sure you'll do really well on your debt free journey. I think it's one of those things that is so much easier to do when you have support and it really sounds like your other half is willing to give you that.

I've had a long day today, I've been working away today because i have a conference this weekend to sort out so back really late tonight and up early again tomorrow.
I miss my daughter awfully when I'm in a busy phase but at least i know that i get decebt holiday time off with her to make up for it. I'm also quite lucky in that i have fairly flexible hours so i can pick her up or drop her off at school at least once a week so i guess i'm kind of moaning about nothing.

So today I spent £2.04 out of my sundries on food as i am away today. I did take a packed lunch but didn't expect when i got there this morning that i'd have to stay so late tonight. Heigh ho, never mind.

So how am i doing one week into the month?

Well i have plenty in my account to service the few outstanding d/d for the month.
    Still to come out is
    water £68
    ins £17.49
    violin lessons £75

All other d/d's are paid. I have £80.33 left out of the grocery budget and i have bought my weekly pack of ciggarettes today.
I have loads of food so will only need to top up fruit and veg for this week.

I did get rather annoyed yesterday though. SIL came over with partners nephew. He's a sod at the best of times.
So she came in, went into a long monologue about how hungry he was and what am i going to do about it. She then helped herself and her son to a sandwich and plonked herself on the sofa for the afternoon.
She only called in the morning to say she was coming over, so i rushed out to buy a chicken that was big enough for all of us only for her to go home with the hump at 4.30 whilst dinner was still cooking because she wanted to go out and thought i was being "unhelpful" not considering her schedule!!

Heigh ho, i now have a freezer full of roast chicken ready for pies and soup.:rotfl:

The spending diary is going realy well. I've been really good about updating it every time i spend and it's really making me think about what i buy and why.
One of the things i've learnt this month is that pay day doesn't have to equal lots of treats day.

So lets see how the rest of the month goes....

Hi 4littleone, lovely to see everything is going well. I'm getting back on my feet after mum's death. My sister and my niece lived down to my expectations, but fortunately I don't have to have anything more to do with them - hopefully!

This month I've bought 3 pots of face cream, some knitting yarn and dh's birthday pressie - as well as extra costs of the funeral, flowers and such. This has caused a £200 blip - grrrr

Tip - get some bread and jam ready to give hungry visitors. If they are really hungry they will eat it. Buy the value jam hehe - not's that it's unpleasant - it's just that you will know it's cheap! ;)

    Hello you!
Good to see you back. The value jam is a great idea, what do you think about me putting it into an expensive brand jar then?:rotfl: That might give me even greater satisfaction! I think i find partners sister so very annoying because she has no sense of financial responsibility. She has a low paid job and although this is topped up with benefits she is always skint. The reason being that she is constantly buying things and not paying the bills, then guess who she calls to sort out the mess? I stopped the gravy train a while ago and since then things have been frosty to say the least.

Families, who'd have em! I'm sorry to hear your sister and niece appear to have let you down. I have toxic sisters myself, i have cut all contact to a minimum now as it was just too stressful to keep up with all the rubbish.
Funerals are expensive though aren't they, but at least you had the cash to use. Just think, if you were still in your spendthrift days it would have been even more difficult.
I hope the day went well for you (apart from the sister and niece obviously). I always think it feels like a bit of an anticlimax after the funeral, you get so caught up in letting people know, making sure all the arrangements are sorted etc that afterwards it's almost like being in limbo. Make sure you take some time out now to look after yourself.
Have a pampering session with all that face cream! :rotfl:

Am having a really rubbish evening now.
Patner locked me out again (he drinks too much and leaves his keys in the door on the inside so the door won't open on the outside) in the pouring rain. He then gave me the Look of Death for ringing the doorbell and has stomped off out for the night.
He's already told me he's getting drunk tomorrow afternoon with friends, is out with another mate thursday so will be drunk then and is "playing golf" on friday when he is supposed to be picking up dd from school as i will be away.
I know he'll get drunk and be late with one of his mates and she'll be left to her own devices at home while they play x box as loud as they can.

I'm trying really hard to be patient as i need to save enough to be able to move out but this is all getting on top of me today. I don't want daughter putting up with this. Saturday night neither of us got any sleep as he was up drinking with mate and keeping everyone up, last night he passed out on the sofa with the tele blaring.

Sorry, this is a huge moan isn't it. Only a few more months and then everything will be fine.
