    In your prev post-
You'll only be able to go back on IB if the reason you've left your work is because of your health. If you have to leave because the job has come to an end and during the time you've worked you have managed to cope healthwise, you won't be able to go back on IB.

Not entirely correct. If the job ends, the job ends. Whether someone is capable or incapable for work at that time is another matter.

Well, what you've said is certainly true, Stazi. However, the meaning I was intending to give from my post was that OP would only be able to go back on IB if they were incapable of work at that time. I took it that the OP was querying whether they could automatically go back on IB if the job ended for any other reason than their incapacity for work. If, of course, they are incapable for work at the time the job ends, yes they can go back on it. If they are capable of work at the time it ends, then they can't.

Hope you can make sense of that! ;)

Sorry if I was unclear. I was asking what the position would be if I had to leave work due to the stress and anxiety or my health worsened.

Thank you for clarifying, cifpower. If your health worsened to the point you had to give up work, or if the stress and anxiety was so bad that it made you incapable of work and you had to leave, or even if the fact of you losing the job because it had come to an end made you so stressed and anxious as to be unwell and incapable of work, then you could go back on your IB at the rate you are currently on.

As Stazi said, it's not an issue of why the job ended, but your capacity for work at the time it ends. If you're unwell and incapacitated for work at that time, then that's all that matters in terms of your going back on IB.

Come to think of it, Cifpower, have you looked into getting some ongoing support for a return to work rather than just going it alone? Have a looky here at MIND's website for some useful information. You could also make an appointment to see the Disability Employment Advisor at your local Jobcentre Plus to see what help and support you could access.

Well I got a letter today inviting me to start work next Monday. I was both happy and petrified - half an hour after I read the letter I became wracked with nerves and had to rush to the bathroom.

I contacted IS and was told I would receive a £100 Job Grant and they would also send a certificate to HB to enable me to get a further 4 weeks at my current rate. I also contacted IB and told them I would be going back to work and they "closed my account".

When I telephoned to confirm the employment I was actually told I would not be starting until Tuesday 6th May and the date in the letter was a mistake. I contacted IS and they reviewed my account and scheduled the claim to end on 5th May. When I contacted IB I was asked if I was fit for work. When I said yes they told me I wouldn't receive any more payments as I did not fit the criteria for the benefit any more.

I contacted tax credits too and was told I would receive about £94pw which I am really happy about.

So to sum up I am really excited but so nervous. I haven't been in employment since Nov 05 but feel I am ready.
