On IB and possibly going back to work - a few questions

I know my DLA will not be affected as that has been awarded until December 09.
Don't be too sure about this. You MUST tell them that you have started work again and this will prompt a review. As long as the job you are doing doesn't contradict the reason for you getting DLA you should be fine, but a lot of people will get it stopped and have to appeal.0 -

You only need to advise the DWP if your care or mobility needs have changed.

Well done on the aptitude test cifpower xGone ... or have I?0 -
Yes dmg is correct, it is NOT a condition of DLA to inform them that you have started work. It does not mean an automatic review either, but it does sometimes happen. If there is a review and your needs have not changed it should not be problem either.0

If you dont inform them though and they find out you are working they will want to know if any of your care/mobility needs have changed, they will assume that something has changed which is why you can now work. This is what could prompt a reveiw. I know because it happened to us, and we had to fight for months to prove nothing had changed.0

Yes it could prompt a review but it is not automatic.0 -
I just wanted the op to know it isn't always as simple as the rules say it is. We didn't inform them because most text about DLA says there is no need. The IB informed them and they stopped it straight away saying we should have told them. They then went on to say if hubby can now work then things must have changed. We had to appeal to get it reinstated and it was a total nightmare.0

Thanks for the heads up. I did not realise that if I come off IB they would contact DLA and they might review me. My GP has been very good these past few years and he suggested that going back to work might help me but not to push too hard if it all becomes too much again.0

Just to check, the job is temporary for 51 weeks with a possibility of permanence after that. Will this still allow me to go back onto IB at the rate I was on if I need to leave?I think I remeber reading that you have to specifically mention that you want to be linked to the option of going back on the same benefits if the job doesn't work out for you. There are some conditions aswell such as it has to be a permanent job with a contract of more than just a few months(i think). I'm sure others would be better help to you as I don't want to say too much and give you worng information.
Best of luck to you. It's a step im considering too after 2 years off work with Stevens Johnson Syndrome. I fully respect you for trying to go back to work.0 -

Cifpower,
You'll only be able to go back on IB if the reason you've left your work is because of your health. If you have to leave because the job has come to an end and during the time you've worked you have managed to cope healthwise, you won't be able to go back on IB.
With regards to your DLA, here are the only things you HAVE to tell them about. But like daff duck, I've seen instances where DLA have found out that people have started work and it has prompted a review. It might be worth writing to them when you start work saying that you have done so, but in the letter stress that you still have the same care/mobility needs and there is no material change to your claim. I've known people do this and to the best of my knowledge, they've not been reviewed.
Hope this helps,

Not entirely correct. If the job ends, the job ends. Whether someone is capable or incapable for work at that time is another matter.0
