Displaying texters names

Just been issued a basic Nokia 112 phone by work - when people text me the message only shows the number of the person, and not the name, even if that persons number and name is in the contact directory.
All phones I have had before always display the name (if its stored on the phone) but I can't see any menu to change this and it is really annoying me as you have to check whose number it is each time.
Anyone any idea how I can change this - sorry my knowledge of mobile phones is pretty limited so any help would be welcome.

Do you store your numbers on the phone itself or on the sim card? If you go into contacts from the main menu, then memory in use (poss under options, not sure on your exact model's workings) and select whichever it is you use (or both if you use both) then this should, with luck, sort it out for you.

Thanks for that - just checked the phone and it has a memory status display - one for phone which says none in use and one for sim which says 19 in use - so I guess I am storing on the sim.
I also checked the memory in use setting which allows you to choose either phone or sim (but not both) - I have now set this to sim (although I think it was already set to this) and will see what happens.
