If you like real coffee but a machine is too large/messy then why not grab a french press?

They are about £4 from asda for a single one.

Without sounding daft, what is a french press?

  • I got the argos one about a month ago, again it's got a re useable filter and for the money I can't complain, definitely worth the money!
  • ok so here's my "tight git" question :).....how much approx does it cost to make 1 cup filtered coffee, compared to 1 cup of instant....using just a regular run of the mill brand...not a value or supreme brand :)
  • also...am I right in thinking these are "perc" coffees :) and not drip coffee...just as reading a forum on instant vs filtered coffee it talks about perc coffee not being very good at all due to the way it works removing essential oils etc etc yadda yadda :)

These are drip types, the water is in a separate heated tank which boils over into a funnel containing the coffee grains and then drips into a jug through a filter.

Perculated coffee is where the coffee is held in a container above the boiling water, where it is steamed and the coffee drips back into the boiling water which then becomes the coffee to drink.

Instant is probably cheaper, but it's all to do with taste. Try Asda finest Zambian coffee in their drip machine. Really excellent.
    Was 2 packs for £3.

    Hi All :)

I have had one of these about a year - sure I only paid about £4 for it.

I make tea with mine, my husband is American and loves his sweet tea, we can't buy it here so I make my own.

He says it is as good as his moms - :o

Instant coffee v filter coffee - try really rich by kenco - tastes really like filter at instant prices.

    Take care
