  • Morning everyone.

Happy Valentines day to you all - i have just sent my friend who is the lab technician at school an ecard, as i am sure it will make her day to receive it. I don't think i will be getting anything off DH this year - we normally only do a card, but with so much needing spending it is a bit of a waste really. We show our appreciation to each other all the time anyway, and won't get dictated to by a day.

Off to a good start here. All woke up feeling good, my back ache has virtually gone, and DS was in such a good mood he was giggling all morning. Now he is at nursery, i am going to do a few hours of school work, and then go and have lunch with a friend and her 5 week old baby and have some squishy baby hugs. Will seem weird holding a tiddler but i guess i had better get used to it.

I was chuffed with myself last night as i managed to do about an hours work after logging off - marked the rest of my y7 books and did a few of the year 10 ones, so already a good start for today, although i think i might have to not have the internet on to do a lot today.

pigpen big hugs to you and your family for today. Was that young for a bunny? I have no idea on pet life expectancy. I remember being devestated as a kid though at losing family pets.

mudbath take it easy today - have fun with the kids to distract yourself, and it will soon get to 5pm.

Right - off to make a start now i have had breakie. I said i would be at my friends for about 11:30ish, so i need to crack on as all the y10 books will be marked before i go, and i will also have written a letter to DS's nursery about his hours while i am on mat leave. Wish me luck, and i will see you all this evening.

    Happy Valentines day everyone :)

Pigpen, big hugs, I'm always scared of pets dying because I cry like a baby then the boys cry......

Rght, DW emptied and refilled, washing machine on, kids to school (bit of a delay with DS1 because of the accident with the poor piggies who had to be shot :( ) time to take my 2 smelly dogs to the groomers then vacuum the house within an inch of it's life when I get back before they come home.
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
  • Morning everyone. Sending hugs and angels to mudbath and pigpen - hope they get there soon.
Todays mission is to take 3 gingerkids to the hairdressers to see if there is life under all their hair. DD1 is currently twirling in front of the mirror posing, whilst DS is trying to avoid having his face washed! DD2 is shouting at me to hurry up mummy! No peace eh!
After that its 1 hour of manic cleaning before taking DD1 to Pizza Hut to meet up with her old school friend who moved away last summer.
    See you later!

Pigpen - huge hugs to you and your piglets. It's so horrid when a pet dies and, like you say, it's one of the few things us mums can't fix. Hugs to DD1 xx

Thanks everyone for their good wishes. We're walking puppydog this morning, then it's homework time (they'll love me for that), then I've got a client which is always therapeutic, dd then has piano lesson then it's time to go. So, i'll be kept busy.

I'll try to do some S/S on the way round the house through the day. Have a good one xx

  • Pigpen - really sorry to hear about Barney. I hope that all the pigs in the pen feel better soon.

We've given up on the potty training this morning. DS1 has been holding everything in - yesterday he got to 4pm without doing anything, at which point nursery gave in and put a nappy on him. The nappy was drenched at 6. He was crying inconsolably in the night, and again this morning. He wouldn't say what was wrong, but in the end I lay on the floor with him quietly for 10 mins, at which point he asked for a nappy in a very small voice. No more crying since it's been on. He's been quieter than normal this morning, but we've had some smiles at least.

We're not sure where to go from here. Thing is, we've signed him up for the nursery at DH's school from after Easter - this is what's making it financially viable for me to go back to work as we get a 50% discount - and they don't take them unless they're potty trained. He's 3 next month and all his friends the same age are happily using the potty, we were hoping that by starting now while DH is off on half term we'd be OK in 8 weeks time but I don't know now whether we should try again tomorrow or knock it on the head completely for a while. Any suggestions?
  • Morning peeps - didn't post much yesterday - had a "oh sod it" kind of day but went for a walk in the sun and cooked some cheese bread (never cooked bread before) instead - it was yummy but more like a cheesy scone mix in a loaf tin

Mudbath - got everything crossed for you hun, hope you hear some good news soon

pigpen - aawww no. Sorry to hear about Barney bunny. He was so cute in that photo you posted. Trust it to happen at half term when the piglets are home. Hope you and the piggles are ok (((hugs)))

Jill/MOJ2 - how are you both today? Hope half term isn't driving you completely nuts. Hang on in there both of you

Soappie - any update on ORF

    Jjef - i'm in for a 10.30 HHC

    To do:-

    Clean loo
    Clean loo floor
    Clean bathroom floor
    Dust bathroom
    Dust study
    Dust bedroom
    Check smoke detector
    Vac upstairs
Clean door handles and light switches upstairs
    Clean upstairs window sills
    I'd rather be watching CSI!
  • How frustrating for you samphire, i mentioned it a while back that i had a really good book by Gina Ford called 'Potty Training In One Week', it is worth buying, or i can send you mine. The first chapter gives you 7 signs to watch for that they are ready, without all these signs they are not ready apparently, and 'the key to potty training quickly and successfully is starting when the child and parents are ready'. I found this really helpful as we had a couple of unsuccessful attempts and were getting disheartened.

    Morning all

Pigpen - so sorry about the bunny honey

Mudbath - hang on in there, we are here for you and you will have us all thinking about you and sending you good vibes at five

Samphire - hugs to you and the little one - have you tried skipping the potty and going straight for the toilet? Can you make it more fun? Put a ping pong ball in the toilet with a face on? Is he frightened of having an accident? It will be easier to solve the problem if you know why he does not want to do it. Pants feel really different to a nappy - he might feel less protected, bare. It probably fells like you going out with out your undies on (ok I know some of your probably do that).

No flying here today as it is my birthday. Going to the pub for lunch and OH and the kids about to start preparing the new kitchen garden which is my present. Be back later Dusty x
