23 working all hours, in debt & with an ill partner :(

Hi All,

I haven't posted on here for a while...because in a nutshell...everything's gone wrong.

Me and my fella moved in with my mum back in April 07 to help her pay the mortgage seeing as my dad decided to go and work abroad leaving her with 2 kids and a £720 a month mortgage to pay for. However, she has since made up with my dad and now flits between here and the Isle of Man..leaving me and my other half to nice silence in the house.
We have been forking out £550 a month towards the mortgage, gas, elec and council tax only to be told yesterday by my mum that she can no longer keep up her end of the mortgage and the mortgage company want the house back.

To top it all, I'm working 45+ hours a week as well as being a carer for my partner. He's 28 and has been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and psoriatic spondylitis. He has to take weekly injections just to stay alive but because of our debts, he has to keep working even with major flare ups.

I don't know where to turn. Because of my partner's illness...can we ask the bailiffs to hold back awhile so that we can arrange for our belongings to be moved to somewhere or am I being naive?!

I'm trying to fill in the Disability application forms but they're so difficult. There's a company near us called WYAC who apparently help you fill in the forms and fight the DWP on your behalf...but the times they want us to attend we can't just walk out of work for!

I dunno how much more I can cope with. Was considering an IVA but I doubt it'd help. I'm nowhere near having to file bankruptcy but I just need some help from somewhere?!

Any advice (or hugs) would be greatly appreciated

A very ill and very stressed Tang
xx

When do you actually have to be out? And have you contacted the Homeless Dept at the Council?

Do you have a local CAB? They can help fill the DLA forms in as they are very complicated and it's helpful to have someone who knows the forms to help fill it in. Do you have any holiday time at work? Could you take a day off to get things going?

Once he has DLA in place, there's a lot of help and protection you can get but it's difficult without it.

Other than that, have you posted an SOA yet? That'd really help us see what your best options are.

Your SOA looks generally okay, however, you're missing quite a bit - food, gifts, clothes

  • One thing jumped out at me... prepay certificates for prescription charges - click here http://www.ppa.org.uk/ppa/ppc_intro.htm think it is £27 per 3 months or just under £100 for the year
Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

Entertainment was in the original SOA, £20 is the guideline and they have Sky at £19 which we were told counts as that.

I thought that aswell - also if you go for the yearly prepay you can pay for it in 10 monthly instalments
  • Also you have a £550 payment to your mum - if the mortgage company are now plannin repossesion, she can't have been paying, so why should you pay her?
