My council tax was paid off by the end of sept last year(I use my 120 pounds child benefit each month to pay it),so oct + Nov payments went on a debt free Christmas and I started saving the payments from end of Dec until April when we start paying again to give me a head start on this years council tax, there should be about 500 pounds there by this time,so it will be paid off early again, then I will do the same as last year.

  • Having to live off it, unfortunately.

Planned to use it (£102 a mth) into savings account to use later on for car tax and MOT, but OH lost his job Monday, so we've had to budget it into monthly costs, with putting a tiny bit away for the car stuff.

  • Last month went towards paying off total credit card (yippee!!) and this month will use it towards paying off my final credit card - so hopefully will be debt free (apart from mortgage) by September.

Ours is going into a savings account that we are keeping until the MOT (April). If the MOT doesnt cost too much we are buying some desperately needed furniture!

I don't get 2 free months because the council messed up my direct debit so many times it meant they had to spread it over more months... not happy about it but what can you do! :(

I'm not getting two months free this year, as I got into arrears and am nearing the end of the payment plan to sort it out -so I suppose it's going to the Poll tax debt!

Im the same, had a bit of money trouble during the last year and the council let us spread out our payments (which I really didnt expect them to do!!)

Means that we are not having a break but our money situation seems to be calming down now so we will be ok. Hopefully next year will be better and we will have the break like most other people lol

Don't think I will get any free months this year-moved in November and council have been messing up my direct debits since then-don't really know how, as I moved from one end of town to the other, and that seems to have completely confused them! And from the start of the new council tax year, I will be paying over 12 months, not 10...fingers crossed the council can get it right by then!
