can i just ask how you make it into the milk i currently use the blocks and am not that impressed with them to be honest
I think that the reason why you are experiencing some difficulty with the blocks, is that coconut cream and coconut milk are not quite the same - and I don't think that you can make coconut milk but diluting coconut cream (?). Having said that, if you are whacking it in a curry, it doesn't make as much of a difference because you can top up with milk or water to make the curry sauce more liquid.;)
I generally like to have a few of these tiny tiny cans in my cupboard, because I can use them to make little curries, or to top up bigger ones:

To add to the confusion, I think that coconut milk powder is also called coconut cream powder:

thanks baby fuzz ...the stuff i have is creamed coconut depending on how much milk is added you get either the milk or the cream (obviously less water for the cream) so it is good in that it lets you have both but having worked with the real stuff straight off a tree etc i kinda have developed fussy tates i dont like the block and cant afford to buy coconuts by the load or grow my own tree...so i was thinking of trying the powder i was kinda wondering how it is made is it made up the same as it is in the blocks or some other way and what does it look like ...i know it's in a packet but does it just look like coconut flakes? .....0

Thanks elantan but i'm in Belfast, on that wee island across the water! For anyone who's local to Belfast, there's definately one on the Ormeau road + maybe one on the Lisburn rd? Getting loads of ideas off this thread. Thanks everyone!0 -
I haven't used it myself, but I would assume that it would be similar to milk powder. Sounds like a good ingredient for baking cakes though, doesn't it?0

can i just ask how you make it into the milk i currently use the blocks and am not that impressed with them to be honest ..am going to the chinese supermarket on thursday so will look out for some to try ...what does it look like also (if you dont mind)
I use the guide off the back of an old Maggie brand pack* my IKg pack only has instructions for using the whole thing!
if you can't find a bulk pack, do try one of the smaller packets, I'm sure you'll like it better than the blocks ... it's lovely stuff& comes in the form of a fine powder
*220ml warm water + 55g (1/2 cup) powder = 1 cup/250ml coconut milk
*180ml warm water + 85g (3/4 cup) powder = 1 cup/250ml coconut cream
although a lot of the time I don't make it up separately & just add the powder to the dish as it's cooking0 -
I grabbed a box of crab claws last time I went -£4.50 for 12 as opposed to £3.50 for 3 from the take away!I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0

If your not sure what an item is and some of the packaging can be confusing, dont be afraid to ask the staff, as some things arent always things we would expect to see on the menu. I never did find a recipe that required air dried fish gills:eek:0
