Dispute with hubby over turning up the heat on central heating

I say that heat is still coming out even if the dial is turned right down just keeps the house at a nice temperature - radiators feel warm! but hubby disagrees.
Who is right? help, otherwise i`ll have to wait for the gas bill!:rolleyes: :rolleyes:

thermostat is there to control the temp of the room but aslong as your pilot light is on and gas is burning away you will get bill lmao
the lower the dial the cooler the room as the gas doesnt have to work as hard to heat the room
