Further to my request earlier this month I now have a copy of a spreadsheet available for download. It's pretty comprehensive and there are notes to help you follow it.
I'm still happy to accept other spreadsheets so that we can give our readers more choice about how they'd like to keep track of things.

And a big thank you to the author

I've added a table to the spreadsheet page for those who don't want to do the whole spreadsheet thing:This is a simple table with columns to keep track of grocery spending and pin money savings. It doesn't even do the adding up of the running totals - you have to do that for yourself. I've saved it in three formats so one or other of them should load into your word processor. It is saved in .swx format and in Word 6 format and finally in Word 97 / 2000 / XP format. Just click on the relevant button to download.
If none of the versions will load for you let me know and I'll see what else we can do.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Squeaky - Please could you point me in the right direction for the winzip needed (needs to be free)?
ThanksThe best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0 -
You don't need winzip. I didn't zip any of the files on purpose so that nobody would need anything.
If you can't open any of them it means that you don't have the Excel {sp?} program or something similar for the spreadsheet, or you don't have Word or something similar for the documents.
Try a download and see what you get. Let me know what it was you tried and which program you tried to open it with. Actually - when you click on the button you get the option to "Open" or "Save" the file. Click on "Open" and your system should automatically pick the right program to open it with - and then you can save it.
If you're still having problems let me know and I'll see about saving in other formats. One way or another we'll get it to youHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Message that appears is
Windows cannot find winzip32.exe
This program is needed for opening files of
type 'XLS File'
I am on windows 98 and have lotus smart suite. The pc belonged to Noah before he boarded the ark!The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0 -
Oh, right. I'll take a look at what other formats I can save the spreadsheet in. In the meantime do you know what dot extension your lotus uses for spreadsheets? Or better still, a list of any other dot extensions it will accept?
Watch this space - I'll edit in some offers shortly
Edit: I can do the spreadsheet .xls in the following formats:-
Data Interface Format
dBASE
Excel 95 (+template)
Excel 5.0 (+template)
StarCalc 5.0 --> 3.0 (+templates)
SYLK
I can't guarantee how they'll translate though
To find out which ones you might be able to use - load up any spreadsheet you happen to have (or start a new one) and the use "File" >> "Save as..." which should give you a list of the formats it can handle. You need to match with one of the ones here.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I've set the page up now with two buttons there - one for the Excel version and one for the Lotus version.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
