BarclayCard - Late payment charge!
Comments
-
We have a Goldfish credit card which we use constantly and have had for a number of years and over the years the bank ownership of the card has changed several times.Last year in the knowledge that my bill would arrive just after we left on holiday I asked for a change of billing date which I have done in the past. This was refused. As suspected the bill was waiting on us coming home and was paid asap in full as is normal. The payment was within the date but by the time it had cleared at the bank it was late. The following month we were charged a late payment fee and interest on all the transactions. My hubby complained on the telephone and got some of the charges reduced.I followed it up with a letter and got no response. But the following bill all charges had bee waived.
Try writing or e-mailing instead of phoning as sometimes there is only so much the operator is allowed to do.:j0 -
Thanks All! - I have had the late payment charge removed. I just rang up and told the person, that nobody rang me back i.e. the manager or whoever has the authority etc. I explained the situation once again, and after a little bit of confusion - the charge was waived!
I will still be shopping around for another card, exclusively for my internet and phone purchases.

If you have had a late payment - it will go on your credit file even if it is not your fault, as happened to me. It's easy enough to get removed (if you can prove it was not your fault) - but I think Barclaycard had a blooming cheek!
I did not even consider the fact, that I might get a black mark against my file. Thanks for bringing it to my attention - now off to the Experian site...0
