Hairdressers, should i go and complain?

It's funny why we all feel intimidated in the hairdressers. Why is that. I first had to complain when I was 16.
I had mid length hair which I wanted trimmed etc. I love having my hair done and totally relax but I though she was taking too long on one part of my hair. She had cut in layers just over an inch long on top and was trying to match it to the rest of my hair. I just asked her to stop and the manager came over straight away. He apologised and said he was sorry but he would have to cut my hair short to make it a balanced style. The mad thing was I paid for it! Now I am older I would refuse but at 16 I thought I had done well to ask the girl to stop. My hair was so short my bf offered to take me to the football with him as I looked like a skin head.
Now I do pay attention when they are cutting more. I assert control by finding my own parting (they always put it too far towards my ear). I fiddle with my fringe and ask them to redo if it's not right (this is best left until it's been dried). I will also stop them putting unwanted products on if they do so without asking.
The funniest experience I ever had in the hairdressers was with this male hairdresser who was very sought after and very expensive. It was during the bob era and he sat on a stool to cut my hair. However instead of him moving around me he kept spinning me around. In the end I was quite dizzy!!~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

My friend Tom got a short back and sides from Supercuts and it was awful. Truly the worst haircut I've ever seen. I went to meet him after and I could see he wasn't happy as she'd cut it too short on the sides so that there was a distinct line between the short sides and longer bit on top which was rather uneven. Unfortunately it wasn't until after he'd paid and left that I saw the back of his head! It was terrible, really patchy. I would never have let him pay if I'd seen that before we were out of the shop. I said we should go back and complain but he wouldn't because he'd liked the girl who cut his hair and had a nice conversation with her about classical music!
Moral of the story;
1) If they don't show you the back in the mirror they know they've done something wrong.
2) Never go to Supercuts.0 -
Supercuts has been OK for me, but you never know who you're gonna get, unless you want to pay extra, and they do change staff frequently, so its a bit of a lottery. Maybe best to stick with who and what you know!Bless Martin's Little Cotton Socks. I thank him for giving us MSE. Look what its grown into!

You really do have to have bealls to go back into hairdressers as I find them quite intimidating !!
I once had my hair tinted (bleach applied directly to my scalp) and the guy left it on twice as long as he should have AND left me under the heat thing which speeds up the process - the result - ended up in the burns unit of my local hospital having treatment. i obviously complained and was offered a full refund, free cut and colour and products and treatments up to the value of £50.
I should have pursued legal action against them as I suffered hair loss, burns and the inconvenience of not being able to wash my hair !!
I since returned to the salon and the guy who did it left not long afterwards to work for another salon.
You did the right thing going back in !!Debt Free Jan 2010!(Be happy) the state of your life is nothing more than the state of your mind! X:j0
