If you own a wi-fi enabled mobile, and have broadband set up as a home wireless network, then you can make free mobile 'phone calls without using paid airtime. You can also, if your mobile supports these features, use free email and web browsing. VERY handy if you use a PAYG sim card, but works equally well with contract sims.
So, go on, give it a go. You can only SAVE MONEY.

What fridgetdigit is saying as that if you load the correct software onto your wifi enabled mobile, you can do the exactly same voip (phone over the internet) tricks that you can from a wifi laptop or tower PC. The N95 for instance has the well known Symbian operating system, for which you can get Skype see http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/01/31/fring_launched/
You mobile does not need to be unlocked, it only needs to be wifi enabled.0
