I switched to bgas on friday as it was the cheapest. I got a phone call today from bgas to confirm the switch but she didnt mention that it had gone up since friday, once I read on this website that they had put the prices up I decided to cancel but was told when I rang up that it was too late. I said it had only been six days and I still had one day left , I was told that as I had agreed to go ahead on the phone I was not allowed the 7day cooling off, and that they could not change it. I then asked why was this not mentioned to me as I would not have agreed to swop if I had known. I said that I felt ripped off but she didn't seem to care, It was like speaking to a stepford wife as she just kept repeating the same rules over and over. I asked her for an address to which I intended to complain to she gave me the address and told her I thought Bgas had acted disgustingly.0

You DO have a 7 working day cooling off period. Tell BG to stick their gas where the sun doesn't shine. Also complain to Ofgem that they are misleading people. As you haven't signed anything they can't enforce anything. If you set up a Direct Debit cancel it at your bank.0 -
The first time I rang up to question BG about the cancellation fees, they said that all existing click 4 customers would be moved to click 5 and be subject to click 5 prices.
When I rang to cancel, the man at BG said it was frustrating how customers knew more about what was going on than he did and said he would cancel the switch.0 -
One of the first things I did when moving into any new house was switch my electric and gas.
BG are awful, got threatening letters from them, when I didn't even have gas in my flat, CS is dreadful. Npower (Yorkshire) are better but too expensive, so now it is almost automatic just to move to EDF online tarrifs. Am paying less than I was last year, on dual fuel tarrif DD @ around £65-70pm, at that rate I had major overpayment on my gas as have combi boiler so gas usage in summer is v low, which for a family of six is pretty good.Nothing to see here :beer:0 -
Is this new Gareth?
Yes. The previous Online V3 tariff didn't attract any DD or Duel Fuel discounts because their prices were so "low":rotfl:
However now that their Online V3 tariff is more or less the same as their standard tariff a DD & Duel Fuel discount has been applied. If you are with EDF Online V3 check that they are giving you the discount either by ringing them up or checking your next bill.0 -
Oh no...I filled in the switch on their site on 07 Feb...I have not heard a peep from British Gas about switching me though.
Bah I have just run the numbers through Uswitch and now BG dont even feature on the first page of results...Right going to have to cancel that switch thenDebt Free Marathon: Start 01/06/09 £16714 - Current Position £14514 - Finish Line Xmas 20100 -

I applied for Click 4 on 8th Feb and the email confirms Click 4, but I've not heard anything else of them, even asked them will I be on the click 4, the email confirms.
For gas I've gone with Ebico as that is the cheapest, I just wished I could find a decent price electricity tariff, which Click 4 was OKish, but Click 5 isn't.
If I can get Click 4 and Ebico then that will be cheaper.
I'm currently EDF Online V1, with the tariff kept at pre-increase price until transfer away. EDF don't want to know about me getting V5, so have to switch away.
EDF V5 would work out cheaper than Ebico and Click 5, as you have to have Dual Fuel for V5, this makes the electricity a decent rate, but the gas is a higher rate compared to Ebico.
I know I've had cheap gas and electric compared to many others since around March 2005, but it's annoying I can't get the cheap electric from EDF without having to have the gas with them too. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

When I too discovered the price change, I rang up to cancel, but yesterday still received all the paperwork for the transfer to go ahead. I rang them again, and the denied I had cancelled. They then actioned the cancellation (I rang back later to check!) What was worse is that the tarrif listed on the back was the old click4 prices, as the letter was dated before the price increase! I would not like to claim this was deliberate, but certainly misleading.0
