Shock value the publicity it creates is invaluable, lets face it the series is rubbish, Torchwood is supposedly run by 5 or 6 people who save the whole UK from all alien threats and the most unbelievable of all they are based in Cardiff.........trash!:rotfl:

  • Anyone that watched Torchwood on a regular basis would know that he is bisexual. I love the series and I love the way it ties in with Dr Who too. I would get to one of the signings if I could, but I can't.

Thanks to the OP for trying to give us some useful information.

I personally don't have a problem with the gay/bisexual element of Torchwood, but the problem I do have is that I don't find any of the characters in it very likeable. I therefore find it difficult to empathise with any of them and therefore be involved or interested in any of the story-lines.

Give me Doctor Who any day!
  • The trouble is there is absolutely no reason for the bisexual bit there was no inkling of it in Dr Who its there for one reason shock value and in my book thats where it goes wrong

My point exactly! One minute they are discussing the plot, in the throw of the action etc and then completely out ofthe blue Jack shoves his tongue down some blokes throat! And...........it isn't just a teaser like well, we know what will happen behind closed doors.......NOOOOOOOOO!!! We see them kissing for what seems like hours, tongues and all.

You need to watch the Doctor Who series 1 episodes "the empty child" & "the Doctor Dances".

Captain Jack is introduced in these episodes & in the first scene it is established that he is bi-sexual.

He filrts with a male RAF officer & Rose Tyler.

The Doctor later explains that in the 51st Century where Jack comes from they are a little more liberated than we are here......and how right he was.

Jack`s character doesn`t often lock lips on screen - in the first episode of Torchwood series 2 it is with a character that is his ex-boyfriend.

Also Torchwood series 1 was the highest rated series on BBC 3 ever, and Torchwood series 2 is the most watched on BBC 2 every week.

For the previous poster that asked - The works is a discount book outlet chain, currently discounting vastly due to being in administration.
