Sin Bin

Could the site benefit from a general "Sin Bin" forum for complaints or are these best left to individual forums? Newspapers love "Sin Bin" stories to they could generate useful publicity for MSE and keep Martin in the public eye. [Not that he needs much help ]

The reason I am asking now is that I think I have discovered a nasty consumer unfriendly practice that should be exposed, and wasn't sure where to post about it.

I went into Dixons to buy a Freeview box. Naturally I didn't want to purchase their poxy extended warranty insurance.

But when I said I didn't want it I was then offered it at half price - it was such a quick-fire response that it wasn't rehearsed. Would they have made that offer if I had said "yes" first time? I somehow doubt it. Surely that's a discriminatory offer?

Has anyone else had this experience or is it just my local Dixon's branch? I think there could be a consumer scandal lurking here.

Worth any MSErs heading into town tomorrow testing this one out?

God I remember well over 12 years ago Dixons doing this, as I got a video camera when my 2nd daughter was born and she's now 12
