Help with SE k750i

Dear SonyEricsson experts

I have a SEk750i [CID36 BROWN] phone. I was told this can be easily upgraded to w800.

I am getting confused with few issues

1.Should this be converted to CID 36 RED?

2.or should this be upgraded to CID 49? .. . .. . . .. before upgrade?

3.I tried GDFS backup via XS++, but gives failed message

4.Without doing anything, can we still just change the menu icons?

This phone is already unlocked from a local shop but just want to make it look better. The menu icons etc at present looks awful?

I dont want to spoil the phone, but if it is possible, I want to give a try.

:o I really appreciate your help

There is CID 36 version of the W800 firmware and main which you should be able to use.

You may need to convert the color to red.

As suggested before ask the guys at the above forum and they will guide you in right direction. Remember before you do anything else backup your GDFS.

I did this to my CID49 K750i and it works fine (although I did nearly brick t on my first attempt).
  • I was fighting with the phone for the last 24 hours...no progress

Is it possible to customise icon menu/theme etc without changing the CID?

[I am happy with the phone and dont want to spoil.......just was trying to upgrade to w800 as it was an option]

    Any suggestions?

You tried changing it to red ?

If you are having that much trouble then don't risk bricking the phone and leave it as it is.

The main and FS files I have seen for this phone are for phones with a red CID.

I went through Gflash............the phone doesnt get recognised for flash but instead gets connected to the computer [switches on]

Anyhow, my question is as long as I have CID36 Brown, cant I do any customization? If the answer is 'NO' I am happy just leaving as it is.

Have you tried removing the battery (then reinsert) and then holding down c whilst connecting the USB lead to the phone ?

Sometimes the phone can turn on. But removing battery etc solves this.

I found a easy way................as I wanted only to change the theme etc
simply connected the phone to PC and did copy&paste of themes from web.

Now I can change theme to anything I want.

I am very happy and thanks for your continued help:o
