Rude Sainsburys staff.

Went to Sainsburys on the way home from work. Had to pop in to get a newspaper. Anyway, I only had a £10 note. The guy at the till said "that doesn't help me much does it?", which really shocked me. He was quite aggressive. I just smiled and said "I can't help it if that's all I have", to which he glared at me, tutted, shut the till drawer really hard and shoved the cash in my hand. I just smiled at him, said thankyou and walked off, laughing. Still really annoyed me. Yes, it would have been easier for him if I'd had change - I think it was to do with the coins in the till, but I didn't. Yes, it's Friday, but I've had a s**t day at work too but I've never been remotely rude to a customer, no matter how much they've 'inconvenienced' me. Fair do's if I'd have given a £20 to a bus driver, but this guy was really quite rude.
I deal with stroppy people on the phone all day every day and always have to remain polite and courteous. Really winds me up when other people can't do the same.

Wow! Our local sainsbury's staff are lovely! I generally apologise if I hand someone a £10 note if I'm paying for something that's less than £1, although cash machine's never give fivers any more.crispsandwich wrote: »Fair do's if I'd have given a £20 to a bus driver, but this guy was really quite rude.
 Yikes! I tried paying with a £20 note on a bus once, and the bus driver made me get off stating he didn't have enough change!!! It did me good though, because I walked the 3 miles into town instead!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Go back get the name, contact address. simple. dont feel bad.Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"0 -
If you wanted to complain (not sure its worth the effort though) there should be an identifying reference on the receipt he gave you,if you have it.0

About 13 years ago when I worked at a motorway service station part time some guy tried to give me a £50 for the sun (25p at the time). He was the first customer of the day so there was no other money, they just had a basic £52 float to start the till. I took £2 out and 25p (the cost of the paper) and showed him the float & said that this would have to be the change, he changed his mind!0

There is something in the back of my mind that the onus is on the buyer to provide the correct change not the seller to refund the difference .. can anybody confirm that?
