Orange sim only checking remaining minutes

Hi can anyone advise please.
I am thinking of getting an orange dolphin sim only. Howeasy is it to check remaining minutes? Can you do this from the handset and if so is it up to date?
I am about to cancel my O2 contract because you have to go online to do it and then its about 48 hrs behind. No good if you are away camping!

Yes, you call 150 (free) from your mobile, and they tell you how many minutes & texts you have left.

For me, it updates once a day, normally around tea time.

Thank you for the information it sounds better than o2.

Would you happen to know if they can set credit limit so you can't run up really huge bills if you go over your minutes/texts? It's for my teenager who is a motormouth!

No Orange don't currently have a capping feature like that I'm afraid.

(ETA - you can, however, request a call barring feature at any time if you know said handset user has already used their mins. but obviously, this is a lot more work.)

The most 150 enq line should ever be behind is up to about 24hrs. It generally lags on bill dates, but thats about it and there have been some big improvements in the last 6months or so and it's something that's still being looked at.
