  • BT used to let you keep any email address if you paid or not. However due to cost savings any email not attached to a broadband account or current dial up account will be ceased unless you pay £1.50 a month to keep it.

Dunno about that - I left their broadband service in 2005 and it's been "dial-up or pay-up" since then.

    Bt now clamping down
As i said they used to just let you keep the email but now BT are stopping non paying accounts.
  • I have a niece in UK with a BT landline not attached to any email addresses, do you think I could attatch our email addresses to her account? our surname is different to hers though! Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
    Thanks xx

  • If you are happy with BT's service and the only reason you are moving ISP is because of their non-competitive pricing policy then give them a call first. I did and they have discounted my line rental/broadband pricing by more than £10/month (option 2). In this climate even the biggest companies will haggle to protect their market share. :T It does no harm to ask and the call is free to an 0800 number!
  • Thanks for your reply Costcontroller, It is not because I am changing ISP purely that I now live in France but wish to retain my valuable (to me) email address, I do not have a landline in UK presently, I just want to if at all possible avoid paying the 1.47 per month that BT want to charge me for keeping my email addy.
    thanks xx
