Primus and caller display

Hi, I am thinking of subscribing to the Primus Saver 2 service but can anyone tell me if my number will still be displayed on the phone of the person I'm calling? Some of the services I've used before my number would come up as 'international' and they wouldn't answer my call.

Used it for a couple of weeks now and can confirm, for me at least, Caller ID is fine. I've had problems in the past using 18185 and so on where no Caller ID or International would come up but not with Primus so far.
  • Primus is normally ok for number presentation. Its only normally the likes of 18185 who route some of their calls overseas that cause Intl to appear.
  • Great, thanks for your help.
  • Sorry but could you please clarify I’m having a blond moment, if I use Primus option 2 CPS and 18185 will my phone number be revealed to the party I am calling:confused:
    Many thanks

Yes with Primus (presumably your evening and weekend UK 01/02/03 calls) but
    no
with 18185 (presumably your weekday daytime UK 01/02/03 calls).

The latter will probably display 'International' on the display of those receiving your calls.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Thanks for the clarification; I will cancel Primus option 2 CPS as having my number withheld is very important to me. Looks like the only option for free evening & weekend call with withheld number is BTs 12 month rolling contract?

Sorry I may not be making sense? My phone number is permanently withheld with BT.
I have just read another post where someone is using Virgin as the CPS and there number is still withheld
    Many thanks

    Just dial 141 then.

Yes, just dial 141 at the start of the string to prevent CLI being sent.

The same applies with 18185. Although, normally, using 18185 sends 'International' to the receiver, sometimes it doesn't (it seems to depend on the time of day and how 18185 routes its calls at the time), always dial 14118185 prefix to be sure of not sending your CLI.
