Carphone Warehouse mis-selling extortion!!!

Please somebody help me! I've had an 18 month contract via CPW since late August 06, due to end February 08, however, CPW contacted me in December to arrange an upgrade. I had about five calls from one of their idiot salesmen, I told him repeatedly that I use my phone mainly for e-mails, international calls and calls when abroad as that is my work pattern, he kept offering me text bolt ons and all sorts of stuff totally irrelevant to what I wanted, anyway, we finally agreed a new contract with all my previous essentials continued, great. In January, I get a bill for December usage for £109. My typical bill previously was around £60, and I was suspicious as I had not used the phone for work over Christmas so it should have been around £40 tops. The bill contained a £40 charge for data - even though I had repeatedly asked for the data package to continue. The same day the bill arrived, CPW disconnected my phone! I have never, ever been late in paying, I did not understand why. When I called them (which is quite hard when you've been cut off...) they said I had run up a bill of £320!!! After being passed from one rude employee to the next, I had the phone re-connected and they promised to raise an enquiry into this cost. Turned out it was purely for data access, and the idiot sales rep had not given me any data package, even though I repeatedly asked for this - in fact, the new tariff he had given me was not even compatible with the data package I had but he never once told me this or offered me any alternative. After being cut off again despite being promised this wouldn't happen, and days of endless calls to these rude and ignorant people who treat you like a criminal, I spoke to an absolute horror called Aftab, who told me he had listened to the call (not all the calls, just the one of them in their favour, obviously) and because the sales rep said the old bolts on would terminate in favour of any new ones, they were not at fault or in any way responsible, and get this, CPW policy is that they do not have to tell you about any product that you need!!!! So I have the same package for 18 months, repeatedly ask for the same or equivalent again, get totally mis-sold a rip-off package, and they are not at all liable - and at the end of the call Aftab told me my bill for February was currently £690 (and it's only the 8th)!!!!! I've complained to OFCOM, I've reported it to Watchdog, and I've gone direct to 02 and asked for their help, am now waiting to see what they can do. They are trying to transfer my account directly to them and take it from there, i really hope they can as I cannot talk to the monsters at CPW anymore. To be fair to 02, they are absolutely disgusted by this and every person I've spoken to there has been really helfpul and very polite, and they said they have endless problems with CPW mis-selling products. I'm prepared to go to court over this and will haul in as much media attention as possible if I have to, but CPW couldn't care less!!!   • Hi everyone, just wanted to update you, the advice from Jaxer did the trick, Carphone Warehouse have admitted liability and agreed I was mis-sold the contract, they are cancelling all charges and refunding all data payments I made in the last two months.

    If anyone else is having problems with Carphone Warehouse, please don't waste time and 0870 number charges going through their useless and unhelpful customer services, go straight to the High Level Complaints department, e-mail address [EMAIL="cdunstone@carphonewarehouse.com"]cdunstone@carphonewarehouse.com[/EMAIL] they will deal with it politely and very quickly (also, let them know you've sought advice from Ofcom, Watchdog, the internet services regulator ISPA and an independent solicitor) - they'll soon sort things out for you.
