If its a portable / small TV then its cheaper to replace than fix.
Its possible that you've lost your blue drive (asked dad, he's a TV repair guy), if you take it to be fixed, get an estimate first.

No it's a 32inch Flat screen TV which cost me near on £700

Its possible that the deguassing circuit has failed, may be due to a electrical spike.
This demagnetises the shadowmask on power up.
Its repairable, try to find someone who will do a free estimate, then you can make an informed descision.

Just got back from the school run, turned TV on and picture is back to normal :) I moved the fan before i went out, so maybe it was the fan, although the fan has been next to the TV for weeks

I just hope it's not the tube and the picture stays clear, fingers crossed there's not a loose wire, except for my brain of course :D

Thank you all for your replys :p

i know you said you tried the scart leads but this is exactly what happens to my tv when they are loose, if the scart lead is secure try jiggling the wire as there may be a break in it, or if you've got one, try a different scart.

James i've just tried them but no change though. I'll buy new ones to see if that does any difference. I've got three to change. I'll come back here once i've tried the new ones to let you know. Even if buying new ones is a waste of money at least i tried and if it works i'll give you some jaffa Cakes

Re SCART leads, what happens when they are all removed and you are running off the TV's own tuner? If its still green/yellow its not the scart leads at fault, if you have some red in the picture it may be the degaussing cct as I mentioned before or possibly a dry joint.

Here's a highly technical thing to try, so do it with caution.

The next time the colour goes, give the set a heavy whack on top with the flat of your hand. Based on the "drop test" theory we used to use in the RAF.

It has worked in the past for me on both a Toshiba & a Philips tv.

I now await a flaming from the experts telling me I have probably damaged something - hope not.
