Marks and Spencer furniture order that's never coming...

I need some VERY QUICK advice to see if I am over-reacting here.
I placed an order with M&S Online back in the second last week in March for a relatively small item of furniture. It cost £200. Order was processed, got the email back saying delivery was expected at the end of May - about 8 weeks. No problem. Credit card was not debited at that time, which I thought was unusual because every other time I've bought furniture in the shop it's been debited at the time of purchase. Never mind, I thought. Phoned them 3 days before due delivery date to check and see if it was still on target and I'd need to make arrangements to be at home to collect it. Courier had no idea what I was talking about - phoned M&S - oh, hang on, mmmm, yes, it'll be another two weeks. Problems with supplier. No problem I thought - these things happen, and I'm not desperate for it. It is now the middle of July and I've had two letters from M&S telling me that "due to supplier problems your order has been delayed for a further..." first it was five weeks, then the second letter in the middle of June was two weeks. It's now over three weeks since that letter and not a cheep from them.
I emailed their customer services dept to find out what was going on - the whole order is now over 8 weeks late - and the reply I got didn't answer one question I raised. They bunged me some GV's but didn't actually tell me when my order was going to arrive or what the problem was. Oh, and they debited my credit card in May, the same day that I phoned them to query where the stuff was. Methinks they never placed the order and my phone call was a timely reminder, and NOW I'm experiencing a real delay in the order process.
Who do I contact now? Customer Services seem a waste of time since they were the ones that replied and didn't answer a blind thing I asked.
I'm now getting annoyed with the principle of it all - they have £200 of my cash and I don't have the goods I paid for. I'm tempted to contact Smile (my credit card) and report it as a disputed transaction...?
Suggestions please?

Have you asked M&S to cancel the order and for a refund?0

No, that's next. I emailed their customer care dept again and set out clearly what I wanted from them - just some answer that's not waffle about when my stuff is going to be. Next stage is that I'm going to cancel the order (but I'd still really like the furniture I ordered?!) or do I go higher?
The rubbish I was told about leather being out of stock - I couldn't tanned some hide myself in all this time waiting...0
